M60 hanger question

I have a 60 without a feed tray hanger. I bought some cloth/cardboard ammo bandoleers and want to use those. Do the hangers I see for sale just screw on or clip in, and will this work with those cloth box bandoleers? Thanks

It depends.

The new style E4 hanger is screwed into the side of the receiver so that there is no additional stress or torque put on the feed tray itself for better reliability. However, the E4 hanger requires holes drillled into the received and the back end of the holes inside the receiver to be relieved to clear for the screw heads.

The old style E1 hangs from the feed tray itself via the pawl cartridge retainer pin.

Both styles you can use the cloth/cardboard catridge bandoliers.

If you choose to use the e4 hanger, another option is to just thread the holes already present in your receiver and mount the hanger with allen screws. It's way easy and allows you to change configurations at will if so wanted.

Odds are your receiver already has the wholes in it as they're standard on the gun since the early 60's with the use of the feed chute brackets seen on D kits. But I guess not everyones gun could have been built to spec.
