tannerite mix questions
I've read where you need 34-0-0 to make it , problem is that the local co-op wont sell AN to and joe blow . I was at Lowes earlier and saw 33-0-0 and next to it was 34-0-0 . I was wondering if it would work but looking on the bag it says the nitrate is from urea , so a no go I'd assume even though its 34-0-0 ?

Does it work well? That's TONS cheaper than real-deal tannerite.
there was a long thread on this a few months back. from what i gather it does work, but you have to get 34-0-0 fertilizer. anything else is cut with something else, possible to use but you have to separate the AN from the rest of it and in that case it's not worth it any more.
There is no ammonium nitrate in urea nitrate... nothing to separate. Different stuff.
A link in that PDF said that quantities of AN > 1lb or Al mesh finer than 100 required ATFE license.
Is that true, or CYA?
buddy and I were talking about this today.
Local Co-op still has 50lb bags of AN and they'll sell it to you all day. My buddy's a farmer so that may have some bearing.
The Aluminum powder we'd have to get online.
use the finest dark AL powder you can find. i use 5,000 mesh off of eBay or
http://www.americanpyrosupply.com/ is where i have got my stuff from. you can also buy pyro grade AN from them as well. youtube will also give you a lot of better recipes, there are a lot of much better ones out there.
ok sorry, can't find any of the 5,000 mesh but this is going to work much better...
http://cgi.ebay.com/20-lb-Aluminum-Powder-5-3000-mesh-Super-Fine-/370468978322?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5641abfe92
the darker and finer the AL powder the more powerful it's going to be, if you just want to make cheap tannerite then just go with the 34-0-0 and cheap 500 mesh AL powder. it will have a lot more smoke and a dirtier burn but still makes a loud ass bang and looks cool.
4,000 mesh AL powder
they sell less than 20lbs at a time but there is a link to a seller
Supposedly AN is going to get harder & harder to get:
To comply with new Government regulations, certain chemicals (primarily oxidizers) can only be sold in limited quantities. If a chemical is marked as 'Restricted' then a maximum of 16 ounces ( 1 pound ) can be shipped to a given person or address in a calendar year. You can purchase a full pound at one time, or buy a 2 or 4 ounce container every few months - as long as the total amount you purchase comes to 16 ounces or less in that year.
Orders that exceed the 16 ounce/year limit will not be processed.

this is the cheapest I have found bulk tannerite $43 cheaper for 50lbs shipped to me
http://www.intheredexplodingtargets.com/product.sc?productId=18&categoryId=2
works great, and they ship fast
anybody know what these .22 rimfire targets are and if they work ok?
its fun to shoot suppressed .22 at night, this might be neat to try

I can save you more money than that on 50lbs. Let me know when you are ready to save $$$$.
