Question about 1065gr shotgun detonators
Found a listing for some 12/20 gauge projectiles.
Wondering if this is worth messing with or better to leave alone.
Supposedly has 3 second delay and from what I can gather needs to be shot from a rifled barrel.
Can't find any other specifics on the design or construction.
Thanks
Nobody?
The projectiles you saw listed were probably priced higher than the complete 20/12ga rounds were/are available for.
like bird-bombs on steroids?
They run about $80 for 25...

OUT OF STOCK HERE
I would do some research on those before I tried to shoot them out of a standard 12 guage... Find a copy of TM 43-0001-27. They are not made for a standard shotgun.
From the 'specifications' on Ammunitionstore.com:

Shoot out of a rifled barrel only.
Detonates On Impact
Bullet Type: 12 Gauge Trainer Spotter
Projectile Weight: 1065gr
Amount: 1 Round
Function: The projectile impacts with the target. The point detonating fuze functions and an explosion charge within the fuze ignites the smoke composition and ejects it out the base of the projectile.
Notes: TRAINER-SPOTTER Cartridge. The cartridge consists of a cartridge case, a chemical filled (smoke composition) projectile, and a fuze with a small explosive charge to provide a visible and audible verification at point of impact. The cartridge is identified by the markings on the cartridge case and a orange projectile tip.

Yes. I had read that about the rifled barrel. I didn't know if these were worth messing with or not.
I also thought about loading these into some kind of setup to shoot out of my M203.
Maybe I'm crazy but they look kinda cool.
My concern about shooting them out of a standard shotgun would be the nose of around sitting against the base of another during recoil... Also, the requirement for a rifled bore suggests to me that rotation needs to happen for arming to occur.
FWIW, I think a single shot subcal adapter in a 203 would kick ass for those, but I would still find that pub and read what's going on inside of those before attempting to shoot one. Also, find the pub for the subcal device itself, and read about what kind of range and trajectory they have (some subcals I have seen don't go too far).
I was thinking of working up a subcaliber adapter for the M203 and it would be a cheap way to simulate a HE training round.
Bang and smoke and a fraction of the cost.
