Ohio Rapid Fire m203 receivers any good? anyone got a close up pic?
i have collected almost a whole m203 parts kit . are the ORF M203 receivers any good? are they milled out of billet or are they forged? does anyone have a close up pic of them? are there any other people that sell stripped receivers?
I know that Randy Shivak used to sell the receivers stripped mr40mm.com
the shivak receivers stripped are $1675. an LMT complete minus barrel are around $1300. the ORF are about $500 stripped. i just cant find out anything about the ORF launchers.
I thought about picking one up myself, and actually do have a parts kit, just don't have the extra 600 bills to check it out yet... Plus the 200 extra bills for another Form 1. GROG
Find it hard no ARFCOMER has not done it yet.

I bought one when they were $775
I sold it a year or so later as I was a broke kid and couldn't come up with $600 for the used rusty and yet still hard to find parts kits.
REGRET
NEVER sell anything cool. Incomplete or not.
I don't know if this will help much, but I was going to build up an ORF receiver also and did some research on them. I emailed the guy in this UZITALK forum ( tunnelrat) and asked him about his. He said the receiver was well finished and went together pretty well, but did require some fitting of parts. He hadn't fired it other than a few chalk rounds when I inquired, but overall he said he thought it was worth the money and he'd recommend it.

will a shivak 37mm barrel fit on the orf receiver?
Yes. GROG
I built up an ORF 40mm on a form 1 a few years ago and still have it. I have fired countless chalk and buckshot rounds with no problems. Havent shot a real HE for obvious reasons. All the parts fit perfect. I would say go for it and save some money over the LMT or KAC.

Do you have any pictures of your receiver. i have a full parts kit now and almost ready to buy. if anyone else has any info on the ORF m203 please chime in.
Sure, what pics do you need?

the engraving would be nice. something to show overall workmanship really.
how much should a kit/barrel run you? just saw on GB the small parts kit minus barrel for like 500-550 which seems retarded to me.
Thanks,
Jeremy
Where can I find ORF 37mm launchers?
Nevermind, found it

Now where do I get the parts for it?
these are out of stock as of april 3 2010
shit
Please do not quote me on anything but I am unsure about the metallurgy of these receivers. The Shivak one uses 7075 T6 aluminum. The ORF one uses 2024.
I was interested in one of these a while back but was unsure of the reliability of the ORF one. I would love to get one and I would only be using it for 37mm rounds (flare, gas).
Would the 2024 one be alright for anything that is a DD. I do not have the funds for a DD 37mm or 40mm but would the ORF 2024 receiver hold up for anything other than flares and gas?
Grog can you comment?
My 203 receiver is a Shivak. I've never had a problem with it, and I use it with various shotgun adapters, including .410 to 10ga. I fired the 10ga once. Normally, I use my .410 to go easy on my receiver. (They are expensive)
I have not used or handled the ORF receiver, so I can't speak to how they are put together metal wise. I use several different types of metals in producing munitions for my launchers and replicas. There is a difference in strength between 7075T6 and 2024, and you can tell when you lathe it. Would it make a difference in the receiver? The military seems to think so. I'm not so sure. There are stresses on the receivers, especially when firing from an adapter. If you have one made, or buy one for the ORF, I'd go with the .410, or 20ga. 12ga and larger will thump you pretty good, and could crack or break a weaker receiver, or a rail mount. If you are only going to be using non-AP ammo like flares and smokes, the ORF should perform fine. Even most 40mm munitions do not provide much recoil to worry about. GROG
what would crack on the receiver? where it mounts to the AR or host
