Silencerco SS Sparrow or Gemtech Alpine for first .22 Can
I am looking to purchase my first .22 can and was wondering if anyone had any stay away or awesome buy type advise between the Gemtech Alpine or the Silencerco SS Sparrow. I am looking at those two because that is what is in stock. They also have a YHM, but it is really scratched up bad from in and out of the display. So that one is out unless I can get them way down off the price.
Thanks for any help
You can't go wrong with the Silencerco SS Sparrow. I love mine. Much better than the YHM Mite and I have no experience with the Alpine.
Pretty much anything vs a SS Sparrow, the answer is going to be Sparrow!
The alpine with caged baffles won't be possible to take apart to service if you neglect cleaning it for 1000-1500 rounds. The SS Sparrow can be shot for thousands & still come apart quite easy.
I can't compare the others since I only own the ss sparrow but I can say that it is a great can! We shot over 600 rounds thru it yesterday and had a blast. The design comes apart easily even when there is lead buildup which for me was the best part of getting the sparrow. I look at it as a lifetime investment and thought I should spend the money and get the one that should be easiest to service since the wife and I really enjoy shooting 22lr.
Love my sparrow. The design is excellent and the customer service is awesome too.
Gemtech's customer service is good too, but I prefer the ease of disassembly the sparrow offers.
Sparrow by far.
My SS Sparrow is still pending, but after viewing all my options sparrow came out on top. Mainly because of their O-ring/Clam Shell design.
Drooling over ATF wait.
I asked this same question and went with the ss Sparrow. opinion felt by far that sparrow was the way to go.
Another +1 for the SS Sparrow.
Another vote for the Sparrow. Very happy with mine.
Have you looked at the Spectre 2? It has new click together baffles that keep the tube clean. I am pretty sure it is as quiet if not quieter than the sparrow. Plus less first round pop.
