Blow back through charging handle, rate yours.
I am wondering which can had the worst gas blow back in your face to warrant a gas buster charge handle? Specs on the gear would be nice too.
Usually 16" or less and any kind of can will give you a pretty good face full after a round or two. I don't use gas busters anymore but I have the DIY silicone gasket mod on all my BCM gunfighters.

I don't notice it much on my 11.5" or 20" AR15 with a 762SDN6. Not enough to bother me into buying something else, anyway, until I shot it on a FA lower.
I use the DIY silicone mod on my 11.5 SBR w/ a YHM QD556. It cuts way back on the gas coming out around the charging handle but you still get it coming out of the ejection port. Also try a heavier buffer as it will hold the bolt closed a fraction of a second longer in order to allow the gas to dissipate a bit. Since most guns are over gassed before you even add a suppressor a Switchblock or adjustable piston setup seem to help on SBRs.
I mean is it an app
Would it be less for piston?

No, just an address (add "/mobile").
This thread is relevant to my interest.
With regards to the BCM Gunfighter, Silicone mod, and the PRI GasBuster.....regardless of price, which method or product performs the best.
I have the tried the RTV sealant and wanted to give the others a go, but spending some extra $$$ for something that would add minimal value just wouldn't cut it considering the sealant method is crazy cheap.

Not really.

while I dont have any of the various other handles, I will say it seems to me that most people say the single biggest help is the sealant.
together with a handle, I'd say you're about as good as you're going to get.
that being said, I've had a number of first time suppressor shooters (including women) shoot both of my AR's suppressed and they havent even mentioned gassing.
so based on my experience and lack of bias from other 3rd party shooters, I have no desire to spend money on a handle.
YMMV

Hogwash. My AA piston has less gas in the face than it did as a DI before the conversion.

Not an app, but you can only view the link(s) if you're a member. If you're a team member, you get full mobile capability.

First setup
SPR/M4 on a Carbine System
Second Setup
SPR/M4 on a Middy System
On the carbine, it sucked, was pretty bad, could only shoot a couple rounds indoors before i had to take a break.
I RTV'd the charging handle and that made it better, but still could only shoot a couple rounds
On the second setup, the midlength system really cut down on the gas blowback and the RTV helped seal the upper.
Most recently, i drilled my charging handle. It's pretty cool, you can actually see a nice cloud of gas vent straight to the right of the shooter.

I have to agree. I have a 10.5" that was DI and as a lefty it sucked even with the RTV mod. I moved to the piston and haven't looked back. It is still there but more like an unsuppressed rifle. YMMV.
Ar's in 5.56 (18", 16", 11.5", 10.5") 9MM (10.5", 5") 22LR (4.5").
I find the worst blow back is on the short 5.56 and the 22LR.
I like to drill my charging handles (I'm right handed, if you're a left you're boned on this solution). In addition to drilling them I use the RTV sealant solution.

Thanks for posting those photos as I have been thinking of trying to do that on a spare CH I have. Looks like a good idea as long as you know you are screwed if you want to transition from side to side.

This.
I have never noticed any blowback, but I started out with RTV-modified charging handles from the get-go.
In contrast, my AUG is downright nasty in this regard.
I have a YHM 5.56 Phantom Stainless with QD on 16" Barrel. Blowback was not what I would call terrible to begin with but I put RTV on both of mine over two years ago and I am impressed. It reduced the gas blowback by about 80% +-. The blue RTV works just as well for me as the Red in my opinion....in case that is all you can find.
Mines not too bad, suppressed 9MM with 7.75" barrel. K, it's kinda bad.

dude if my blowback was ever this bad, i just take that bitch off.

Interesting, I notice next to zero blow back with BCM Gunfighters.
14.5" barrel on carbine set-up. Surefire can.
Gas buster charging handle.
No issues at all. Shoots fine. I love the can / carbine combo.

I ran my m4-2000 on my 16" AA upper and wasnt bothered at all with any gas in the face. That upper also has the BCM charging handle as well. I ran the same can on my 12" LMT (piston as well) and was blasted with gas in the face. I havent tried swapping charging handles around yet. I think I will end up doing the silicone mod though

Here's the start of my "no blow back" rifle I'm building my wife. I still need to pick up a gasbuster but it's looking good so far.
CMS
I only notice it when the wind is calm or shooting from a bench. Both are rare for me.
With a 16" stag upper and YHM .308 SS can using a QD mount as well as the PRI gas buster I don't notice any gas in the face. But on my next build I am going to try the RV silicone to see if it compares

Which would folks say has been more effective that have tried both setups?
Gasbuster CH + sealant
or
Standard CH + sealant
In other words, if i dont care about the extra $$ do i gain any advantage in blowback reduction by starting with a gasbuster CH and adding sealant to it?
