Is there a replica Stug-44 coming out?
I read someone, possibly in the new American Rifleman, that there is a replica of the German Stug-44 rifle coming out.
Anyone know more about it? It would be neat to have the world's first assault rilfe. I wonder what caliber this one will be in, as I doubt it was originally made in anything that's been continued to the present day.
The PTR 44. I think they were $3-5k tho could be more.

StG 44.
Got to handle the STG 44 in .22 at NRA Show at ATIs booth. Had intended to buy one this summer. After handling the weapon, I believe it would be much to heavy to enjoy while shooting. Workmanship is beautiful, but additional magazines will be expensive. Available in September according to a very polite booth worker.
With "slight bolt face damage".
I am a bit late to the post here, but the aforementioned ATI .22LR version of it, whose debut was at 2012 SHOT, is authentic in size and even weight, but in .22 LR instead of the 7.92 (?) or whatever it was. If interested, there are a few reviews from 2012 SHOT online. I believe NutnFancy did a somewhat thorough review from the ATI booth which features it, along with a description and expected release date. IIRC, it will be coming in a similar to original design wood-appearing crate/box of sorts. It also features a few other items of interest from the company. You can find it somewhere on his YouTube channel
here
Hope this helps. While not accurate due to caliber, the price is better as well.

StG 44.
Right on. Close but so far, StuG was the acronym for a line of German assault guns in WWII.

The best part of his auction was the see picture for bolt damage, yet the picture was blurry and you couldn't see anything.

I have seen photos of the semi-auto replicas of the STG-44 for a while now. Looks like a great piece of history; Hornady is even making ammo for it. Great range toy, but way too expensive.
Stug from '44?

I want an AR in 7.9X33 kurtz...
A .22 LR version just wouldn't be the same for me. I'd be interested in the 7.92x33 kurtz one, if they could keep it below 2K.

What would be the point when a 7.62x39 is just as good, if not better.

I believe you would have to make the receiver longer on the STG44 as the 7.62x39 is a longer cartridge and this might present technical problems.
Too bad it's hard as hell to get them!
Even the website tells you 2 shot magazine for hunters, 10 shot for sport shooters and 32 shot for collector permit holders. This colelctors permit is as hard to get as a concealed carry permit....i.e. have to be high level gov official.
I'd take an FG-42 in a heartbeat
