Looking for a belt fed rifle
I have about every other niche in my collection - AK, AR (lots), long range rifles, FAL, Benelli1 MI, tons of pistols, etc.
One thing I don't have is something belt fed.
I know DS Arms is making a pretty nice looking RPB, but I've also seen where they've had some jams. Plus it's a non-disentigrating belt, so you trip and stumble all over yourself with it.
What belt fed rifles are out there? What would rock would be an AR that could use a SAW drum, but I've never seen anything like it.
Thanks,
Centerfiresystems has RPDs. Belt feds ain't cheap though.
Oh wow! It's brown bag time for me, as I'm saving up my lunch money for that.
It looks awesome. AR upper, so no FFL needed, fires from either the mag or a SAW drum. Huba Huba.
When, where, how much? No buying info is on the sites.

When, where and how long will it last seems to be the key issues there.

You can have one with out waiting ten plus years and its cheaper than the fabled Shrike too.

no shit? reviews? video? info on modifying the links? (just in case i spent a lot of time around spare links, which i don't)
There's a bunch of videos
here
Semi-auto M2HB? The M1919s look sweet as well, and there are caliber conversions as well as trigger cranks out there.
Shrikes are now available to purchase direct from Ruben Mendola at dealerNFA.com
He has them instock and ready to ship.

Have they fixed the rapid-wear feed plates yet? The other one looks awesome but the QD bbl just screams at me.

They do have a billet steel feed tray now, but I don't think it's needed. The parts show wear pretty rapidly until about 1-2k rounds, then the wear pattern stops changing. I believe the links wear into the high spots on the aluminum feed tray until the wear increases the contact area to a point where it resists additional wear. Just my theory, but my aluminum tray is looking pretty good so far.

How many rounds do you have through it? Auto or semi? How is the availability of spare bll sets? I do enjoy the fact that the shrike doesn't require lower modification.
I've had a hard on for an MM23E for a while now. I think I'm going to have to sell a few rifles to try and swing one.

You have to replace the bolt-release in your M16/RR/AR15 with one that comes with the Shrike upper.

I'm sitting somewhere around 3-4k, but I've only had the upper since November. Ares has spare parts and I've been meaning to get an order in. However, now that Ruben is going to be selling the uppers he says he'll be stocking spare parts very soon. I'll probably wait to deal with Ruben and not Ares. You do have to change the bolt catch and insert a quarter size spacer in your buffer tube to run the Shrike, I haven't had any troubles running regular uppers with the spacer installed.
don't get a belt fed just get what ever gun you want with a beta mag.

whats the point of a BF rifle in semi auto?
I agree 100 rd beta or 150 drum works fine
Because some one wants one.
Often times its just about the fun of something different.
Think how boring the shooting world would be if all guns were the same.

Well, if you buy the MM23E I mentioned earlier, you can shoot it in semi while you save up your nickels to get an HK auto sear. That's my plan anyway.

Same with the Shrike.
Have semi-auto fun while saving up for an M16/RR/RDIAS/LL.

get the sear first, best advice I was ever told.
The sears will go up, while the 23 will do down with BPP now making them
YMMV
OP
Semi beltfeds are "cool" for a couple range trips but they get old real quick. If you get one, I recommend getting something that you can sell easily, turn it into a F/A later, and soemthing that will be cheaper (223 or russian ammo)-308 gets expensive.
Shrike or HK23
I have a semi M2 and 1919s, they have cranks but have lost alot of apeal. I have a 21 that i run on f/a and I will be getting a BPP 23e in a few months. I plan on having the BPP run 5.45 and use it as a blaster at the range

I absolutely agree, get the MG first and the host second. Since 08 my RDIAS has gone up about 4-5k in value, purchased it for 10 now you can't hardly find them.
SG-43 Goryunov
belt fed
cheap ammo
has wheels

anti aircraft mode
That's a parts kit ................
For a little motivation:

I have two 1919's. One set up as an A4 and the other as an A6. They are fun and there are plenty of accessories out there for them. Use to be alot cheaper to shoot, but I always get lots of smiles at the range.
My 1919 chambered in 7.62x54R

I had a really nice 1919 in 8mm Mauser, thousands of rounds of ammo, a 6 lob crank, AA mount, linker, belt loader, bipod, etc.
It got alot of looks, and it was fun to shoot, but, for crying out loud, they don't call them 'crew served' for nothing.
A simple outing meant multiple trips to the house to carry everything to the range in my woods. Them return trips for cans of ammo, then the mount...
Loading it up for a weekend trip meant half (or more) or my trunkspace was just for the 1919.
They are fun. They eat a shit-ton of ammo. Everyone wants to fire it, and they make you 'queen for the day' at your local range.
But, I never regretted selling that albatross. Great gun. Waaaaay too much trouble to setup and shoot.

Yeaaaahhh thats kinda why i just stuck with the bipod. I can fold it up and put it in a case. It definitely was a conversation piece at the range which is why i bring it less often. All i want to do is go to the range and shoot and NOT have like 15 people asking me the same question and/or asking to shoot it.

Probably why I found it in the Parts Kit section, just a guess. I would still put it in the belt fed catagory.
Who currently has those for sale?
