Anyone have any experience with one. I am thinking of using one on my 300 WM. Is the glass clear? ETC

I run one on top of a 20" free floated heavy barrel AR. The glass is very clear with good light transmission. No issues whatsoever.

Had one on my 50. Clear enough, but very small field of view. Hard to find targets even far away, and mirage played hell on it.

I also have a 10x and got no complaints for the price,

Excellent scope. Running one on my RRA Varmit rifle.

Good enough for my uses and repeatability is there. If I go into the deep end then I'll upgrade for one of the uber expensive scopes.

I have two 10X. One on my M1A and one on my savage 110 (300 win mag). I have had them for awhile and have no complaints. I have a 20X on my 50 and its held the zero for 10 years and a lot of shots. I would buy there scopes again.

A few years ago, SWFA sent me a 10X SS for field-testing. It is an EXCELLENT scope and a true bargain. Not "cheap", but not terribly expensive, and in my opinion truly worth two or possibly almost three times the cost, compared to comparable glass, at least back then.
The optics were exceptional, resolution and clarity both quite impressive. Decent, (but not fantastic) low light performance, at least for a 10x 42. ( I think that's what it was, can't recall for certain.)

It tracked ALMOST perfectly around a box test; the clicks were advertised at 1/4 minute, but they actually yielded a bit more than that. I do recall that a ten-minute turret adjustment actually proved out, (at 100 measured yards), right at 11 inches.

But it did so for both windage and elevation, consistently. Over and over again.
Other users informed me that that was pretty common for that 10x model. (They may have fixed that quirk since.)

I think a fixed 16X is too much magnification for most uses for which a .300 Winchester Magnum is best suited. There are exceptions, though.
YMMV.

I have looked through a few SWFA, and found them to be a decent scope for the money. I have a lot of accumulated experience with both 10X and 16X fixed power scopes. If you are using it for paper punching, or only long range, or are just set and determined to get the 16X then it may be a decent choice for you, if not you may want to consider a variable power, or perhaps 10X fixed power scope. While not necessarily excelling at bench rest shooting, the 10X is certainly enough for most long range engagements of the two-legged and four-legged sorts. While 16X will provide good power for extended-ranges, it can also handi-cap you on closer range targets, if they present themselves. Usually, if I was using a 16X, it also had a 20+ MOA base. Perhaps not necessary for your needs, but if a fast shot is needed at short ranges, it could ruin your day. If you truly want the higher-power, without adjust-ability, then the SWFA is a good scope, for the price-point,

Just a consideration, happy shooting OP.

What height mount for an AR15 would I need for the 10X SS, regular or high?

I got the SWFA 10x. I was also thinking 16x was a little much. The optics are good and clear. I will fire a few rounds this weekend and post my range report.

I have a 16X SS its a good enough scope for general range use or hunting without breaking the bank. Got to look through a buddies Konus scope a couple years later and I though the clarity and quality was alot better. Havent gotten around to replacing it.

Mine sits in the medium height ARMS rings.
