This fellow claims that there will be a ACR in 7.62x39 that will use AK-47 magazines. Think that there is any truth to that?

BM was supposed to release 6.8 the summer after the ACR finally hit the market. 7.62x39 was supposed to hit the following year.

Anyone have a 6.8 yet? It's listed in their catalog... http://www.digitaleditiononline.com/publication/?i=89427&pre=1

So when you see a 6.8, maybe 7.62x39 will be around the year after.

I heard one place say that they couldn't get AK mags to work reliably, so they're rethinking AR style mags. Odd, since that's why most people have a hard-on for an AK lower...cuz the mags work. Take it for what it's worth as internet chatter though.

That all said, it makes me really glad I went XCR. I got a beaut of a rifle, it actually is modular, and she runs like a champ in both 5.56 and 7.62x39 (6 ASC mags have been flawless). It doesn't have the race car looks of the ACR, but are you shooting it or staring at it?

I talked to a Busmaster engineer at SHOT 2012 and he said that the ACR 7.62x39 conversion will not use AK mags because they couldn't get it to work reliably with the rifle. Each rifle would require too much individual fitting and testing to confirm function to make it practical.

It has nothing to do with AK mags being unreliable, it has to do with the design differences between the ACR and the AK.

They weren't able to give a timeframe on the release of the 7.62x39 conversion. 6.8 is first up and they now claim it will hit by spring or summer. Their new catalog which is available online now shows 6.8 barrels.

a 223 acr is not that exciting

a 7.62x39 ACR which is 2-3x more expensive than a AK and about as heavy or more and does not take AK mags. even less exciting

The ASC mags have been trouble-free for me as well. I have 15 of them and zero issues with any of them. Good stuff.

This.

The only reason to serialize the upper was to make a lower that takes AK mags. If that is not coming it is just a big batch of fail to serialize the receiver that gets the most wear.
