7.62x39 semi-automatics
Who makes a semi-automatic in 7.62x39 which IS NOT a variation of the AK-47? In AR-15 styles I've aware of Armalite, Bushmaster and Sig. In other designs I'm aware of a Sig. But are there others?
There is the prt32, hk clone that takes ak47 mags. It looks like a hk91
XCRs are in 7.62x39 as well.
Mini 30. Daewoos are available in 7.62X39, but they are not real common.
VZ 58. Looks kinda like a AK but works totally different. Striker rifle

They also have rather fragile bolts which are not replaceable, and thus should be relegated to the realm of collecting.
PLUS! No one has mentioned the SKS yet.

Yankee Hill as well. My YHM 7.62x39 AR has been great, ran like a raped ape right out of the box. I can say the same about my Armalite.
RRA is set to release a 7.62x39 AR as well from the reports I have seen.
Egyptian Rasheed if you can find one.

And PWS.
There was supposed to be an MSAR E4 in 7.62x39 but I think the company failed before they could produce any.....
I am interested in this as well as CT has banned anything AKish in 7.62x39 (AK-74 are legal). I wanted the VZ-58 until I realized the safety is on the wrong side. I have a couple SKS's and am thinking maybe the Super Vepr hunting style as the bolt and safety are not AK in design I think (not sure yet if I can buy this in CT). The PTR is cool but large for the round. If Sig made a 556 in 7.62x39 and named it SCM like the 556 model I would buy it as Sig 5XX is banned in CT by name. They should have named it the Sig 762 instead of 556R. I know VERY stupid laws here.

I'm not familiar with Yahkee Hill. Are they any good?

Decades ago I had a 7.62x39 that Robinson imported. Nice gun. Am I correct in assuming that they are importing the XCR from somewhere? Any problems with the XCR?

As far as I know the XCR is made in the US, but the 7.62x39 ones are conversions, and I've seen mixed reviews on reliability. I don't have one personally, so I can't comment on that.

You are thinking of the VEPR which Robarm imported a while back. The VEPR is an AK derivative. The XCR is American made.

I'm thoroughly impressed with my rifle and they enjoy a good rep in this forum and others.

There are +/- 36 7.62 E4s out there that were dumped overboard as the ship was sinking. They also made about that many 6.8s and 5.45s. The last I heard they needed a lot of tweaking to work right.
There are also some Colt 7.62s ARs around.
The SIG556 R is in 7.62 x39.

The classic SKS is in 7.62x39.
Much lighter than an AK and they have a milled receiver. Excellent rifles, you work the safety with your index finger.

All of the problems some people had were to early C-Products mags as far as I know. My 7.62x39 conversion runs like a top.

Don't let that deter you from considering the VZ. The right sight selector is not particularly difficult to operate and ambi selectors are available.

Bullshit...the one I had never needed replaced. More intardwebz lore.
