I want to refinish my AR's in a neutral Grey color and I'm looking for various examples of refinished rifles to see what looks best to me. What I want is a medium grey or greenish-grey...not too dark, not to light.

I have used grays, but never the lighter ones. Figure out if you want to use Norrells, or Duracoat. The DC finished weapons are usually pretty easy to spot.

Anyone who has used the following Norrell's on ANY gun (doesn't have to be an AR), I'd like to see a pic:

Grayish-Black Flat

Gray Flat

Greenish-Gray Flat

Thanks! A little darker than I want for mine. Perhaps I will just buy a couple of bottles of the other colors to practice with.

I think the Grey colors you see on all the rifles above is a good general choise for varied environments, and is certainly better than Black, if that won't get me burned here as a heretic..."Flat Dark Earth" as is seen on the SCAR rifles is good, but seems a bit skewed to arid areas IMHO. The OD Green rifles I have seen are better than Black, but it takes a certain kind of personality to walk around with a green rifle...

KG gunkote custom mix of gray and white pigment. Pigment was free from KG, great customer sevice there.

ETA: Ya, I knew what you ment. I'm from back east too but I've been in TX so

Here's mine. I went with Brownell's "dark park" bake-on teflon/moly because I'm too damned cheap to buy an airbrush. The gun came out pretty good, though. The "dark park" Alumahyde II that they sell tends to have an ever-so-slight greenish tint to it (to me, at least.)



I took the picture right after I reassembled it because I stupidly thought the gun was "finished", and then almost immediately didn't like the sling attachments and changed 'em. Damned thing's slowly bleeding me dry, and I'm on the friendly end of it...
