airsoft NV helmet?

Has anyone tried one of these? They look decent and they can be had for a little over $100 for the helmet and mount. I know you get what you pay for but I cannot justify $500 plus for a similar set-up

Once the Ops-Core shortage ends, you can get an actual Ops Core base jump for a lot less than $500. Will be a lot better than the airsoft junk.

The word is they aren't too bad and will work just fine, but remember what they are for..

Our jobs go to China because the US government rewards companies for doing so. Our tax and regulatory policies in the USA are more communist than those in China. Also, this country has printed so much money that the value of the dollar has been so debased that it takes too many of these fiat dollars to hire US employees. Lastly, our corrupt politicians refuse to put tariffs on products that are essentially made with slave labor. Why? Because these corrupt politicians are owned by the corporations that benefit from these policies.
The politicians in Washington don't work for us. They are bought and paid for by special interests, multinational corporations, and multinational bankers.
The problem is not some guy that doesn't want to spend $500 on a helmet.

Yup. This is turning into a non tech topic, but we handed them the jobs on a silver platter. The US has a bunch of workers that don't want to work. .gov prints money, enforces union extortion, adds one regulation after another and then taxes what little money you have left.

I would wait on a OpsCore......it's a proven product.....in the states.....and simply...they work.
However.....if you want to go with a airsoft helmet......it will work as a bump helmet and as a platform for a NVD.
A couple things though.....don't trust the side rails.....the plastic is sub par and you may lose a valuable accessory.....and don't get the copy of the fast helmet....get the non-molded in mount....and buy a real helmet mount to hold your NVD....also use oversized washers on the inside...to keep the fasteners from pulling through.
I had a airsoft helmet....and the best thing about it was the chinstrap.....I put it on my Alpha Half Shell......cause the factory straps leave a bit to be desired.

Here is the sad part that most people can not wrap their mind around - the people that govern us want us poor. Poor people are easier to enslave. Plus, as they implode our economy, they can purchase real assets cheaply. The financial destruction of America is being done by design.

OP, have you considered putting together a skate helmet with a NOD mount? It would be a decent interim helmet until the OPS Cores and PT helmets get back in stock. Probably better than a knock-off OpsCore Fast/Basejump or a plastic MICH. There is lots of discussion on bike helmets in the "Head mounted NODS picture thread".

Hi, I have a PT Alpha which I was able to purchase without a problem (no ITAR there) as I couldnt export a mount the only option I had was to go for the airsoft copy. I found it works ok for what I want although I did have to go through and tighten/adjust all the screws to get it right. Which to me was no problem as it is all i can get. Having said that I havent compaired how it works to the original.

I think I will wait for the ops core. It is US made and if I can find one for $200 or so then that is what I will do. Thanks for the advise.

Check the EE. Ratchet mounts are on there all the time. You'll probably want the PASGT style mount (as opposed to the ACH style) and ratchet strap.

Thanks. Any particular category in the EE? Is there a style other than the one you suggested? Do I only need the strap that goes over the helmet because I have a skull crusher set up w/ my J-arm and such.

"Mil-Spec clothing and Gear", occasionally "Optics and Accessories-Used" They show up all the time
If you don't have a swing arm I'd get that too. Swing Arm, PASGT plate, and ratchet strap.
You can also drill a hole in the helmet and use a screw instead of the strap. Supply Captain sells them.
The skull crusher won't do anything for the setup, although you will need the J-Arm to use with the swing arm.

Thanks again. I have the J-arm that I use w/ the skull crusher. I looked on Ebay and found a few but I don't do paypal so maybe somebody on there will let me call them directly.
