Hey thanks. Haven't been here in a while, place has changed.
OP, this is how I zero my laser. I have PVS 14 over my left eye, put the rifle on a bipod/rest and adjust fine adjustment until the crosshairs are on a white steel plate. I then turn the laser on and adjust until it is in the center of the place. So my laser is co witnessed with the acog. the range is 50 yards. I use the 200 meter stadia on the acog. 50 = 200 (2 points where the round intersects line of sight.)
as far as using the acog to shoot, you WILL have a POA/POI shift. It is discussed in the NV forum. I thought is was bullshit but then I started missing stuff at close range and then realized I was being stupid and there WAS a poi shift. Now after co witnessing with the acog I use ONLY the laser at night.
What is cool is sitting down, and putting the rifle on a bipod on the ground, and not even looking donw the rifle in a traditional way. Just put the laser on the target and pull the trigger. I shoot a lot of steel this way

Thinking about a PVS-14.
One of the articles I researched discussed using the PVS-14 helmet mounted over the weak eye, leaving the dominate eye for shooting.
Just wondering how this would work with a TA31. Using the binding aiming capabilities of the ACOG would my brain still work everything out or would I get a BSOD, fall over and die? I also have an EOTech 552(NV capable), how would it work with that setup?
I know I could mount the PVS-14 in front of the 552, but just wondering if anyone tried the above setup.
Thanks.
Hi,
You can't really mount the PVS-14 in front of the 552 - though you can mount it behind. Perhaps that's just that we don't have the same perspective on which side of the scope "in front of" means - :)
Anyway, so long as both eyes are focussed on the same location, this works however under certain circumstances and in dark situations where there's not enough of a reference to have both eyes look at the same location, this doesn't work so well.
Anyway, best thing to add to your rifle is probably an IR laser - :) This will sort it out for you and allow you a better range of shooting options.
Vic (TNVC) is probably the expert on such matters and can advise - also, he runs a NV training course for professionals and civilians - so that's worth asking him about.
Regards
David

Eotech will work fine. You can have the PVS on a head mount or attach it to the weapon. I prefer head mount 95% of the situations I get into. I suggest that you try how the PVS works with a head mount first, if not happy get a gun mount too. If still not happy buy the laser. That is the cheapest route around.
