Having a hard time finding a Bushmaster or Colt 11' SBR with 3 rnd burst. Any ideas if they can still be ordered from the companies or distributors. Getting the run around and different stories everytime we place a call. Anybody have any solid information about it.

Thanks.

3 round burst is a class 3 machine gun, your AR had to be converted in 1986 and before. Therefore you cant buy a new one and Class 3 AR's go for 12,000 to 15,000. not sure this helps

More than 1 shot per trigger pull=machine gun.

Machine gun==>1934 NFA and 1986 FOPA.

Become an FFL SOT, get the law changed, or be prepared to spend a boatload of money.

As far as the 11" barrel goes, it is still an NFA item when configured as a rifle, but you can still get those new.

I'm guessing "we" is a department.

If so, colt and bushmaster should have LE sales numbers and much more info

Yes you can still purchase select fire weapons if you are a FFL/SOT holder and have a demo/sales letter from a LE agency. You can also order select fire weapons if you are a LE agency.

Yes we is for a PD.

However being told that BM no longer makes the rifle with 3 rd burst and someone from Colt actually said they only sell that config to the military only. Kinda hard to figure out since I was actually using a Colt in that config that was purchased only a month ago.

Maybe you should try a little bit "smaller company" such as bcm or dd. I remember seeing on their site links for leo sales, sorry if this doesnt help.

Brownells sells the parts to convert it to 3rd. Easy enough to order them F/A and have your armorer swap things out.

Though, I know I've seen current production Bushmasters with 3rd available. You might try RRA.

From Colt, the rifle you are looking for is a Model 935 "M4 Commando", which is an 11.5" flat-top M4 with S-1-3 burst fire control group. The Model 933 is the same rifle with S-1-A full auto fire control group, while the Model 938 is the same rifle with an "enhanced" 4-position S-1-3-A fire control group.

Any other Class 2 manufacturer in the US can make one of those configurations for you, and most smaller companies would be happy to do so. You need to be sure you're contacting the LE sales department if the company has one, and know what you're asking for, you want a short barreled machine gun, with 3 round burst.

Just FYI, don't get the Bushmaster, get the Colt instead. I am issued the exact Bushmaster you are looking for and we have had issues with them (feeding issues on several and hammer follow/bolt bounce in FA on others). It also is a heavy under the handguards barrel which makes it a heavy pig for the size. The Colt it better all around.

ETA: sorry ours are Safe/semi/FA, no 3rd burst
