Good afternoon,
I recently purchased an ACR and am interested in shorting the barrel down to 14.5 inches and suppressing it, but am unsure how I go about doing this. This would be my first class 3 item. I understand there is paperwork to fill out, but not really sure about the protocol. I would like to make a trust but don’t know how to go about doing this. Also who fills out this paperwork, me, a gunsmith, or a lawyer? After the work or before the work? Could someone school me on trusts and making a SBR?

This has been covered do a search on here
and google

First i suggest a lawyer to set up your trust but isnt always needed

Next have your lower engraved

Fill out proper forms.. form1 and so on

Send inn with $200 to atf
Wait..wait some more
Get form back and have barrel cut

Cans are a similar process using form 4 and no engraving.. unless you are building one

Ok 14.5 isnt that short
IMO it is a waste of money to sbr to that length

If you want a 14.5" barrel, just get the barrel cut to that length and has a flash hider/suppressor mount permanently attached to the barrel for an overall length of 16".

No need to do the SBR process. A lot of people do this and it is fairly common.
