Whats the best mac to buy?
Whats the best variant of mac's out there, I am going between a Ingram mac10/9 and a powder springs m10/9 both around the same price (3500). I really like the lage uppers but I would really like a .22 kit with the lage upper and it appears they dont make such a beast.
The m11 interests me because I can run a lage slow fire upper and a .22 kit but the shotty nature of them, especially the later ones are putting me off.
HELP me choose a mac

I got an SWD M11 made in 86 and it runs fine. I haven't had any problems with it. Check out uzitalk.com they have a dedicated Mac 10/11 forum with lots of information.
I've been reading up as much as I can but there are still some things that are unclear to me.
Whats the deal with swaping calibers on m10's? Can I take a m10/9 and later convert it to .45 acp?

Yes, but not easily. The basic swap functionality is only from M10/45, to be able to use cobray/walther 9mm mags, by putting in a magwell insert and pinning on a 9mm upper.
M10/9 is the same frame as M10/45, but was cut with a narrower magwell opening, and welded up with a narrower handgrip, so it can't use M10/45 mags like the 45 can use 9s.
To convert an M10/9 to M10/45 requires removing the handgrip, milling the magwell opening in the frame to 45 spec, then installing (usually, welding) a new 45 handgrip. The converted M10/9 can then use GG mags as a 45, or, with the proper handgrip insert, the same M10/9 9mm mags as a 9mm.
I had an M10/9 which I first converted to sten mags with a Craig Wheatley sten handgrip conversion. I later removed the sten handgrip, opened up my magwell, and made my handgrips modular, so that M10/9 can now shoot GG mags in 45, and sten or cobray/walther mags in 9mm. I could also modify an Uzi handgrip to let it take Uzi mags, I guess.

If it says "Ingram" on the gun, it is either a Powder Springs gun, or a Marietta, GA gun. Both were built by Gordon Ingram's Military Armament Corp. They just moved shop from PS to Marietta, but it's the same gun - same quality. Either would be fine, and both are considered the "best".
If one is in-state, get that one. Otherwise, see who you can talk down. Or which comes with more accessories / mags? Or just flip a coin.
what about the m11 vs the m10.
I am hung up because I like the better built quality of the m10 BUT I would like to use a .22 lr kit and a lage upper (anything I get will get a lage upper)
There are no plans to build an M10 .22lr conversion per Mr. Lage himself.
I just went through this process myself, M10 vs M11, vs UZI. After all was done I decided the M11 was best for what I wanted, ie comparatvly inexpensive machine gun, lots of aftermarket parts support.
I only found one company making a .22 kit for the M10 and it was NOT drop in, required shipping the gun to have the parts fitted and tuned. Not as many other things to be had for the 10
UZI, about 7K for the basic gun, mags are cheap and easy to get, built like a tank, historicly significant, .22 kits on the market with good reputation.
M11, 3.5K for the gun, lots of options for uppers, Lage Max11, Max31, .22 kits. ALLIANCE ARMAMENT makes an upper which uses Soumi 72 rnd drum mags, lots of options for stocks etc.
YMMV
I'm also hoping/thinking of getting a MAC in the next 6 months.
I really am leaning towards a M10 45ACP. I would like to be able to shoot 9mm, I don't really care to shoot 22 out of it. So the info about how it's easier to change from a M10 45 ACP to a 9mm was very helpful in setting my decision more towards a M10 45 ACP.
So I am understanding with a M11 you can have 9mm, .380, and 22LR but no 45 acp?
Cant run 45 in a M11 as the magwell is not large enough to take the M10 45 mags.
Whats needed to convert a m11/9 to a .380?
I think I have a nice m11 picked out.
Why would you want to use 380 out of curiosity? It is twice as expensive as 9mm.
In my personal opinion, the M11 looks better, more symmetrical.

Practical Solutions sells a .22 conversion for the m10. They have other m10 conversion stuff as well so browse around.

I agree with above poster, m11 looks better and is more symmetrical. The M10 looks fat and top heavy. But once you see an m11 with a Lage Max11 or Max31 your gonna wanna make love to it.

These statements. Nothing wrong with an M11/9, tons of aftermarket parts, support, and cool toys. As stated, they are a sexy bitch, and very competent submachine gun with the Lage get up.

I had a MAC10/45. Thing is, once I put together the 9mm conversion, I never really ran it in .45 any more. If I were to get another M10, I'd consider getting a 9mm and having an Uzi grip conversion done.
But then I've already got an Uzi, so that would be somewhat redundant.

I used to see this as a 'con' but now see it as a 'pro'.
I don't have experience with the M10 kit that you reference but I do have a lot of experience with full auto 22s and also the lage M11 22 kit. From what I've learned with 'drop in' kits, I now see it as a plus that the vendor fits and tunes the kit to the gun. With how finicky 22 kits are, and how out of spec host guns can be, it helps to have strong manufacturer support.
Good luck with the choice.
I bought a 85 m11/9 last night.

.380 ammo is too expensive.
used to be M11/9 as the best choice, but now with AMP10s, the MAC10s have a lot more versatility...

True, Sorry I left out information, I have a M16 with a 22 Upper, that's why I don't really care if I can shoot 22 out the MAC i hope to purchase later this year.

ah....good stuff then
you should still consider it. particularly if you get a kit for the stock upper.....then you've got a little handheld buzzgun shooting cheap ammo!
FA .22 is the cheapest fun you can have without playing with yourself.
Get an the AMP11 or the Max11 or Max 31 list. These guns are awesome to shoot.
