What would be your next stamp?

I only have 1 stamp in the system, woefully inadequate. Thus, I must buy/build something.

I have-

SWR Spectre
M4-2000
Form 1 for an AR15 in process

So what's next?

My vote for next stamp.

I have six in-process now, 4 more SBRs and 2 SBSs.

Out of your list, I'd pick the 7.62 can because I don't have that covered yet and I have plenty of rifles I could use one on. That's definitely in my future.

If you have the needs (ie multicaliber versatility) then my vote goes to the SDN6.

If not, Tirant/Osprey.

I don't have a .308....yet.

By the time teh SDN6 arrived I could probably have one, SCAR17 hopefully.

I'd go SDN6 then, personally.

Tirant. Then build a nice SBR 9mm AR to go with it.

Nothing if the ATF keeps it up with the ridiculous turnoaround times for forms. I mailed my last form 1 right at the beginning of july (went pending August 3) and I am still waiting to be approoved.... WTF!!!!! OK rant over :)

5-6 months for a F1 is normal now, so you're still in proper shape.

Waiting on my MP40 to come in to the shop so I can start another 6 month wait. With luck it will hit the shop in late January and I can take possession in August or September.

My form 4 from a dealer for a can on a trust went pending 8-5 and was aproved 12-22-12

First MG? Grab a MAC. Good guns, set up would stay under $4500. Or a nice uzi if he has some money to spend. Or an M16 if he has some more money to blow.

I was anticipating about a $4000 bonus check in march....hmmm...

while waiting for the stamp to arrive, get optics, mags, ammo, 9mm subgun suppressor, get on list for lage 22lr kit, etc

I'd grab a MAC then. You can still find them under $3k, but things seem to be on the rise. If you've thought of getting an MG, right now might be a good time to get one. I know I'm buying.

It's a size weight trade-off –– the UZI is considerably bigger and heavier, but also much more controllable (IMO); the MAC is cheaper, lighter, and smaller, but harder to control without mods and a lot of practice (again, IMO).

FTR, I don't currently own either... but I've played around with several of each over the years.




If I was going to buy one or the other today, it would be the UZI for me. YMMV.

A registered reciever UZI seems to be about 7K right now. I have been looking for one at 6k off and on for months.

Might get a registered bolt near $5k, but RR (more desirable) are more expensive.

while not really apples to apples, a lage'd m11 with stamp as I mentioned is around $4000 which is much less than the uzi.
this is an iron sighted gun with a controllable rate of fire. "comparable" (sorta) to the uzi.
but you have the option to do a whole lot of different things with it. check the mac portion of the uzitalk board for education.
several different companies make different uppers for the m11s that accept soumi drums
lage makes 2 different versions of his 22 kit which works great
with the lage max11 upper you can have 3 different speed bolts (600, 750, 900)
arguably, the mac is the m16 of the subgun world and the best value in full auto
maybe not the answer for you, but should be considered. suppressors are neat, machineguns kick ass.

That looks nothing like the MACs I've shot over the years. I suspect that I would like that one very much.

You would. They are a ton of fun. I've been on the look out for another MAC. I owned one, but sold it before lage had his uppers out. Now I'd kind of like to have one for a loaner at the range and to let people do mag dumps through. Of course I could let them do that with an uzi as well.....

What are some good places to look for a Mac? I know of Sturm, but what are some others?

New, or used?
It will probably transfer faster on an F3, but is that hard to find?

the "old" mac was a cheapo bullet hose. not real comfortable. not real controlable.

the "new" mac (via lage products mostly, also aliance armament) is a different animal really.
you just swap out the upper and change the whole feel and attitude of the gun. the lage subcaliber (22lr) kit works great too, so its nice to be able to switch over to that. honestly, that's what I shoot the most of now, out of mine.
suppressed 22lr from a machinegun is a hoot.

check sturm, subguns, gunbroker, the EE here etc. there's still plenty of NIB m11/9's out there. sitting on form 3's at dealers too.
honestly, if you can check one in person, I wouldnt be afraid at all of a used one. any bugs it might have, have probably been found, addressed, and fixed.

In my mind, they're the 10/22 of MG's- cheap and plentiful with great aftermarket support.

That said, what about finding factory type parts, pins and things?

And where might these dealers with the NIB's be?

that's fairly accurate. every piece of the gun (except the serialized receiver) is replaceable with either factory or aftermarket parts. and said parts are plentiful.

you can find entire parts kits on gunbroker all the time and several other outlets (us machinegun comes to mind) offer parts kits as well.
lage, for example, makes a replacement hardened sear for the guns as well (a common issue at the end of the 86 run was "soft" sears).
so small parts are very common.

cant tell you exactly where the dealers are, just that they come up all the time. I'd be fairly surprised if you couldnt strike a deal with someone for a m11/9 for ~$3k (maybe even NIB) off of one of the previously mentioned sites with just a little bit of looking. people are still picking them up here/ there for <$3k on occassion, while ~$3300 seems more the norm.

While I'd love an Uzi just for the cool factor, I think presamples are around $4-5K and registered bolts might be $5k, but as others said a nice RR is more around $7K from what I've seen.

Like others said, Macs (especially M11/9's) are kind of the new AR15/M16/Legos of the submachine gun world. There are GREAT aftermarket uppers which totally transform the gun (I have and love the Lage Max 11). Tons of aftermarket support, options for stocks, rails, optics, .22 kits, and parts too. Plus, you can plop the stock upper on and have the 1200 RPM bullet hose experience for S and G's. Or drop in a MAC Jack and shoot 1700+ RPM.

Plus, 9mm is about as cheap if not the cheapest to shoot as far as centerfire ammo goes.
