I have a .54cal Pedersoli pistol (cap lock) anyway it has an undersized bore.... it twill take a .530 round ball with a .010 patch and that is TIGHT. It will take a .535 ball down the barrel with no wad, it seats well and does not fall out. I am looking for a Minie ball mould but cant find any small, or light enough. a .535 lead round ball weighs in at around 232.3g but all the moulds im finding are in the 400g range! this is the closest caliber match i found lyman mould but its a 425g bullet!

where can i get minie ball mould in roughtly .535 caliber and in the 250-350g weight range!

What weight were you after?

As you'll no doubt realise the shape of the Minié-ball means it's quite a bit heavier than a round ball of the same or similar diameter - so the 350gr upper limit may be a bit low...

I'd have a look on Cast-Boolits forum - then GunBroker - then, dares I say it - fleEBAY. Chances are the Cast-Boolits forum will be your /search site as them folk KNOW their onions regarding lead stuff

Good luck

Prolly gonna have to go custom made mould.

Try looking over at Buffalo Arms. http://www.buffaloarms.com/browse.cfm/2,43.html

Maybe try Dixie Gun Works. http://www.buffaloarms.com/browse.cfm/2,43.html

still searching. found a .533 cal 410g lee at midway as well as a .540 cal lee 415g but i am unsure if it would fit.... like i said .530 with a .010 patch is tight (.540 total) and i have to push it prety hard. the .535 fits well and is not loose.... i just dont want to buy the .540 and not be able to load it, and im afraid the .533 will be too loose.... and with a 400+ grain bullet i would almost expect it to jsut fall out of the muzzle when i fire it

Too bad you can't go heavier on the bullet weight.

Lee makes a .54 minnie ball mold that drops a .533 minnie ball. But it weighs 410 grains. I have one and I have to be careful not to let the muzzle point down on my rifles or the bullets fall out. If you want to try some let me know I have a bunch cast up and could drop some in the mail to you.

If you don't need the hollow base of the minnie ball Lee has a 300 grain R.E.A.L bullet.

Didn't read this before I posted.

I have the Lee .533 mold.

I have a bucket of them cast up. PM me and address and I'll send you a few to try.

I think the .533 is a little undersized for my rifle, but they do shoot well.

Edited to add:

I measured one of the bullets last night and according to my calipers it's .530.

That's the nice thing about the Lee dies. At $20 ea with handles you aren't out a lot if they don't work.

Track of the Wolf has .526" and .520" round balls. I bet one of those will work.
