I picked up an Arisaka for cheap at a local pawn shop a couple weeks ago that had been bubba-ed pretty bad. Shortened stock and handguard, buttplate replaced with some hideous rubber pad. But it had a perfect mum which is why I grabbed it, and decided to return it to its former glory. Bought an original stock and reassembled my Type 99 last night. Wow that looks better. So my question is, is Bubba's stock worth anything to anybody, or is it firewood?

Great that you saved this weapon. You could bury it in the back yard and in 1,000 years it may be worth something or sell it since Bubba has spawned many offspring.

Was the shortened buttstock prerhaps a duffle bag cut? That would explain it still having the mum.

Its entirely possible it was cut for that reason. I guess we will never know. Whoever did it cut it a couple inches in front of the rear band. And did the handguard to match, so theres a piece of handguard about 4 inches long.

Pictures?

It'd be nice to see it de-Bubbafied.

I didnt take a before pic, but I'll get one up soon of the new and improved. I've still gotta track down a cleaning rod for it.

EDIT TO ADD PICS

Cant get my camera to take a decent pic of the mum. I included the last pic so you could see the differences in the stocks. Whoever did it didnt neccesarily do a bad job, but they did it nonetheless
