Hey guys i have had a couple of problems with a 1903A3 i purchased a few months back. When i bought it and brought it home i was going over it and i noticed it would not chamber a round. I took it back to the shop and the guys noticed it was a new barrel that was installed but was short chambered so he reamed it for me and it would now chamber a round. I finally got around to shooting it and what do you know i pull the trigger and click. rechambered a round and click so now i have another problem. I am wondering if he reamed it to much and now the firing pin isnt striking the primer or if i have another overlooked problem.
Is your bolt full of grease? Do you have a broken firing pin tip? Start there.
This whole story raises red flags for me.
The new barrel wouldnt even chamber a round? That leads me to believe either: (a) whoever barreled the thing has no idea what they are doing or (b) it was rebarreled in .308. and neither you nor the gun shop you bought it from picked up on that.
Either way, at some point someone worked on that gun that had no business working on that gun. WHo knows what they F'ed up.
Based on your post, it sounds like you dont have alot of knowledge about the mechanics of the 1903 (not trying to insult you, that is just my perception based on your post). If that is the case, I would send it to a competent gunsmith that knows 1903s.

You need to take this to a smith that knows '03's, not the guy who built it. Anyone that would ream a chamber and not check head space and then test fire should be horse whipped.
