Picked up a Rock Island M1903 at the gunshow... with a c-stock
M1903 with C stock was according to the Military an M1903A1. Collectors being more anal see 03A1's as only 1920-30's production but the Army itself never made that disctinction.
If you don't mind my asking, how much did you pay for that gem? She does look pretty...

This rifle has a 1918 dated receiver with a 1942 barrel. The barrel hardly looks used. It is also parked instead of blued. This leads me to believe this rifle is an arsenal rebuild but as always with old military guns it is hard to know for sure. This one happens to be in great condition and I'm very happy with it.

I bought it from a private seller for $525 after a vendor passed on it. The guy had just walked in the building and a roving vendor stopped him in the aisle to look at the gun. I slid in next to the seller and politely asked if I could examine it next if the dealer passed on it. I knew I had a good chance at it since I knew the dealer was going to low ball him.
I couldn't believe the dealer passed on it since the guy's asking price was low to begin with. Anyway, I just want to point out that I did not snipe it away from the vendor; he passed on it and I bought it.

It's so beautiful

Nice pick up . Now get out to the range and report back soldier

Thats a fine looking rifle.

Very Nice

Who cares if you did? They'll fuck you in a heartbeat. Nice rifle!

I realize gun vendors need to make a profit so I am used to them lowballing me when I am trying to trade or sell a gun. But a couple of years ago I actually did snipe a nice deal away from a vendor as a private seller was showing it to him. It was a real nice Colt 1911A1 and the guy only wanted $750 for it. I didn't even wait for the vendor to lowball him... I told the seller I would pay his price while the vendor was still looking at it. The vendor gave me a dirty look as the seller slowly took the gun back and handed it to me.
I came here and posted about it and immediately got lambasted for sniping a sale from a vendor.
At a gunshow I think that's ok on the floor. I certainly wouldn't do it in a man's own shop or probably not even at his table at a gunshow but on the floor. yeah, he's just another buyer as far as I'm concerned.
Honestly, I hate dealers that go for the knees on the lowball. Shit buying at 65-80% isn't a bad profit margin.
Just one schmuck's opinion.
Definitely an arsenal rebuild. I've discovered that the nice thing about those WW2 rebuild barrels is that they're often in like almost new condition.

Great buy on the RIA. Is there a arsenal rebuild stamp on the butt stock? Normally on the left side to the rear of the wrist.
That rifle would have left RIA with a low wood S stock with grasping grooves, park was the standard finish after July of 1918. Correct bolt is unmarked, no proof punch mark, rust blue or oil blackened, extractor is rust blue with gas relief on front. Your rifle is close to one of the last RI's, last recorded # is 346779 when they stopped new rifle production on June 30th 1919. RIA continued a rebuild program through 1924.
