I have been Googling and haven't gotten a clear answer regarding this question.
I live with my father. Both he and I are individually applying for C&R licenses. I ordered the applications from the ATF website last week, and received them yesterday. Part of my question is regarding this section (9):
Provide the Information Required for Each Individual Owner, Partner, and Other Responsible Person in the Business (Including the individual named in item #1). See Definition #7 for Responsible Persons. If a Female, List Any Given, Married, and Maiden Names, e.g., "Mary Alice (Smith) Jones," Not "Mrs. John Jones." (If additional space is needed, use a separate sheet.) Each Responsible Person Must Complete All Information in this Section.
There is no "business", but since we both live on the same premises, would it cause any problems for one or both of us to list the other under this section as a "Responsible Person"? We are applying as two individuals and would be keeping two separate collections, bound books, etc. Would there be any benefit to or potential issues with listing him under this section? What exactly does being a "responsible person" entail with respect to a C&R FFL? Also, what difference (if any) would it make that we would both be license holders?
No kind of business would be taking place whatsoever; however, I want to make sure that a father and son both applying at the same time, who live at the same location, and who happen to have almost exactly the same name, wouldn't look suspicious, or at least that it wouldn't delay the licenses. We both happen to have an interest in old firearms, and I recently learned about the C&R through Arfcom and MDShooters and told him about it.
Also, I have heard conflicting information regarding whether the Certification of Compliance is still necessary for a C&R application, and was wondering if we should print and fill them out anyway just to be safe.
I have other questions regarding local laws, but I may wait to inquire in the HTF.
C&R is an individual license. Just list yourself.
Skip section 10. It's for non-citizens.
I'd include the certification form. Supposedly it's not needed with the latest form, but why confuse a bureaucrat?

This is exactly what I did. No problems. Just sent in my renewal form and check last week, as well. I see it was cashed, yesterday.
Many thanks. I'll try to get my application sent out this week.
