value of m-1 carbine
I have a buddy wanting to trade his M-1 carbine for one of my guns. His is a quality arms with an underwood barrel (8-43). The serial # is 1630XXXX. The stock is in fair shape, it has a bayo lug and the bore and muzzle look good. He has two mags, a pouch, and a sling. Can anyone give me an average price for this gun? Thanks in advance.

Around here that gun would bring $600 to $800 depending on condition.
Pic's would help a lot but I'll say $600+. It sounds like the typical post war refurb that most all carbines received. Does it have the adjustable rear sight?
The more correct parts the higher the value. Nice wood makes a difference.
