So think I did something stupid or maybe not so stupid but neglectful. The last time I shot my M44 I shot it with corrosive ammo and apparently I did not clean it enough. I looked recently and the barrel all the way down to and including the bolt face is rusty. I do not know the extent of the rust it may be just on the surface but either way it is only going to get worse. I will try and post some photos but you pretty much get the point fom my post. I just wonder if anyone has any surefire recommendations for getting rid if the rust, I know I can brush patch brush, brush, brush rinse repeat etc. but is there any type of solvent that is better than others I am currently using LSA oil that a friend gave me but I am open to suggestions of a way to save one of my favorite rifles in my collection.
Outers Foul Out II will remove rust. Or you can run an oily patch down the bore and go shoot the rust out, then clean properly with ammonia.
Scrub and shoot. It probably isn't close to being the first time this has happened to your rifle in its lifetime.
Hoppes #9 and then oil it.
A
DIY electrolysis tank is cheap and easy to build. They do amazing things for the most nasty crusty mil-surp rifles. You really can turn water into wine.
Brush it out, oil it up good, and shoot it.
Sounds like a good screen name for somebody. RustyBore!
