I know there good up to a 100yrds, but I am wandering if I could make mine shoot farther? Anybody know how to, and how long they think it could reach?

Not sure, at 100 yds I can bust clays all day though!

My brother in law and I were hitting gallon water jugs at 200 yds with a good 15-20 mph cross wind. It was hard trying to stabilize the rifles with the wind but you could hear when we hit the targets.

Wouldn't magine they would have much power at that range.... Might be wrong though! Someone will be along with the numbers to prove me wrong.

Did they penetrate the jug?

If I wanted to shoot at 200 yds with my 10 22 I would spend a day trying with several types of ammo. And then just go from there.
Maybe a new barrel....New trigger etc

Yes they would penetrate the jugs. We would hear a very nice whack everytime we hit one. A couple of times we knocked the jug off the wooden stakes. I was using Wally world Federal 550 value pack and my brother in law was using Wally World Remington 525 value pack.

There are guys that compete at 200 yds with .22 and they are standing.

BSA 2-7x32 Sweet 22 Riflescope have 50 to 175 yards Bullet drop precisely calculated to compensate for the elliptic drop of a 36, 38 & 40 grain .22 bullet

Some guys say they are good scope others say they are not.

Haven't heard of any one actually testing bullet drop but if it works that would be sweeeet.

here is a link;

The black powder silhouette guys shoot .22s at reduced targets at 200yd with iron sights, I read about some guys in AZ or someplace shooting 12" buffalo silhouettes at 300yd with .22s.

The idea is that .22s replicate the drift and holdover of .45/70s.

The writer was talking about his supply of Tenex or R50 that was magic in his Martini, or maybe he was drinking martinis.

that fedvalue pack groups horribly for me at 30 yds (2-3 iinches where CCI s under one inch) but shoots just as good at 100 yds for plinking as the CCI for me...

That's a pretty cool write up.

Another thought I've always wanted to try is the Shepard 22 scope. I did have one of their centerfire scopes but didn't like the busy reticle.... maybe the 22 scope would be fun though.

couldn't find it on the search, so it might be in the archives now,

but there was post that had a link to rimfirecentral or some site where a dude set up a butterball turkey wrapped in denim at 300 yards and shot it with standard velocity 40gr lr,

don't remember the rifle he used, but the bullet penitrated through and through at that distance.

It usually take 3-4 shots to break a clay at 200 yards for me, it takes 10 or so to get the hold over with a eotech. It can be done, I suppose a little easier with a scope and dope

I shot a 10x10 plate at 125yds last wed.

20mph crosswind. prone had to aim 6 inches to the right.

It was ringing with authority. It may not be a lethal hit at 200, but it will suck all the way to a medic. And it will put out your eye.......

If you tape a soda bottle to end of the barrel you will be able to make 200 yard head shots, while standing in a canoe!

You have to paint your face black first though. The paint gives you an extra win cheek weld that enables those shots.

I was hitting pop cans with my very accurized 10/22 at about 250 yards with very little wind. Granted they were just aluminum cans, but they went all the way through.
