 Too small for tac vests

It appears that at 5'4" and 120lbs, I'm simply too small for tactical vests/harnesses. You guys have any suggestions on what kind of chest rig or vest I might be able to fit on my miniature frame? Thanks in advance.

Er, the Army issues armor to sub 5' female linguists. And tactical vests. That should fit you.

I'm 5' 11", 150lbs, and have the same problem getting stuff to fit. So far, the only upper body gear that has fit me without modification is my Diamondback Tactical Fast Attack Plate Carrier and my Eagle/SKD All MOLLE chest rig.

I'm small as well. I went with the Crye Precision JPC in small, and it fits well.

This thread is a breath of fresh air. Usually size vs. gear is like:

"Uh, hey guys, I'm 5'11, 350 pounds (I played football in HS). Who makes gear that fits big guys?"
"Instead of buying gear, get a gym membership and lose 150 pounds."
"Don't be a dick, the guy asked a valid question."
"Haha you must be huge too"

Thread lock.

I am 5'6" and 165, even when I was a skinny little bastard at 125 lbs (I look back at colelge pictures and look like a little blonde hair stick boy!) my Medium Diamondback Tactical FAPC fit great. The medium front plate can be a little wide.

You could probably get away with a small FAPC, and there are even a couple available really cheap on Ebay right now. Throw some small TAP Gamma aplates on Ebay in there and a mag pouch or two on front and you are GTG.

Does anyone have an opinion on how the AO Small Chest Rig works with a pack? I now, officially, need a full assault set up just to go shooting since the USFS decided to close a bunch of "redundant" FS roads. These roads include the access road to my favorite shooting area.

Custom-X_Sponjah should be able to answer that, he used to work for HSGI and knows their products very well.

On my body type it works perfectly.
The Sternum strap is behind the magazines when I wear a pack.
I'll try and get some pics.

It would seem you and I are kindred spirits sir. I too am 5'4" [or depending on who's measuring me 5'5"] and last time I weighed myself I was at 120lbs. I can second the recommendation for the Diamondback Tactical harness that Tron mentioned, as that was recommended to me as well, and I can throw in the suggestion for an Eagle LEO Active Shooter's chest rig here This was the first chest rig I ever used, and it fit me really well while maintaining a slimmer profile. You'll have to adjust the straps a bit, and have a lot of material flapping around, but you can just roll them and rubber band them, or tape them to keep it from flying all over the place.

I can also recommend the Shellback Tactical/TAG Banshee plate carrier. I now have one of those [and I believe Tron does as well] and it fits really well. At present it has a little bit of wiggle room, but that is because I was told by a friend of mine that I want it to have a bit, for when I am wearing a soft shell or something like that and it won't be suffocatingly tight.

The only real problem I have found with it, however, is that when I run a belt mounted holster such as my RC Phantom LC, due to my shorter upper body the cumberbund will interfere with my draw stroke. But that can be fixed very easily by using either a drop/offset mount, or a thigh holster.

Hope this helps you some.

Thanks. I feel great. But I'm aiming for movie star size or Victoria's Secret model size rather than normal girl size. 5 pounds makes a difference on my frame.

I think we probably have ten times that number, maybe more, who are horizontally challenged.

When I was in the USMC, the toughest guy in my squad was a little fellow, about 5'6", 140lbs. Whenever we did long road marches, which were almost every week, I could tell that he was miserable, but he never ever quit or let anyone carry his pack for a little while. The guys who lifted weights more than anything else were the ones who always fell out.

Thanks, I appreciate that. I'm just trying to get down to 115 or so. 110 would be perfect, but I think it's beyond my reach unless I find motivation to do something seriously different.

"fair fight" is a term used by big guys covered in muslce. But they still got eyeballs to be gouged, just like everyone else!

I got sent into a tunnel we found in Afghanistan because I was the small guy. I didn't have a pistol, so I stripped down to just my uniform and armed myself with a flashlight and a pocket knife, and brought a camera with me to take pictures. Thankfully it was unoccupied, but I did find a few rounds of HMG ammo. It wasn't that complicated of a tunnel, it only went in, took a left, took a right, and then a short straight, so I only spent a couple minutes inside, nothing like the Vietnam tunnel systems.

I tried to bring up the fact that it's silly to send the medic into the scary hole, but my objections were not taken to heart.
