A chest rig for my wife.......

Putting the finishing touches on the "his and hers" bugout bags and I showed my wife the chest rig ( TT MAV with BIB) that would accompany us. To my surprise she askesd "where's mine?"

She is 5' 7" with a petite build and the HSGI Warload (a rig serving another purpose) I have available was just too big. Unfortunately I customized the TT MAV to the point of no return by cutting strap and adding velcro, so that is not an option either.

Wish I could find a Weesatch or something similar.

How does the SKD Universal CR compare in size?

My wife finds a warbelt works best for her. She's a petite 5 ft 3in and she find a chest rig very uncomfortable for her to run around with...so she works off a belt with a total of 4 rifle mags, 3 pistol mags, a light, IFAK and dump pouch.

Working on it, she is a bit camera shy.

Never thought of a warbelt........Like the one I use so maybe something smaller.

She has to sleep sometime.... at least then... you can get the good ones!

And I'd look into a warbelt!

My spousal unit wears a DBT Fast PC in small and she's 4'11

I'm 5'11" and a pretty small guy, and the SKD All MOLLE chest rig is just about the only thing (besides my DBT FAPC) that has ever actually fit me without having to modify it.

Also, as you can see in the pic below, it probably sits low enough that it won't interfere with any chest mounted accessories .

ETA: Here's a pic to show how it's actually set up

I also think that a war belt would be a GREAT idea.

I have been wondering if it's possible for a plate carrier to be compatible with my wife..

Do they make anything specific for womenfolk?

No offense to the OP, or anyone else, but women wearing chest rigs are sort of probmeatic. Most mil gear is intended for males, who generally have fewer body-induced access issues. It can be done, but some women find it easier than others.

Might be a good topic to post on the womens forum.

I know a few women that wear plate carriers and chest rigs. They wear soft armor underneath, then a plate carrier (Tactical Tailor) over top so they can up armor when needed or shed the external vest. Works just fine.

Tactical tailor can customize anything you need by calling their retail store in Washington. Just give them her mearsurements and they will custom make one for her.
