Anybody out there have a Stoeger 2000 with the Nordic components mag tube extension? Im thinking of getting one and wanted an opinion from anybody who might have one.

Thanks,

Bravo

I don't have one....but everything that Nordic puts out on the market is first rate. I can't imagine you would go wrong (and there are not many other options when it comes to Stoeger accessories)

I have one from Flatland Forge, which became Unknown Target which is no longer selling products. It is the 4 round extension so it sticks out a little further than my 18.5" barrel which does not bother me. It functions flawlessly! I have put hundreds of rounds through it and never a problem. I am not sure how Nordic works but with mine once you put the extension on there is no way to convert it back to hold the original mag tube. 9 rounds of 12 gauge as fast as you can pull the trigger is bad ass!

Why is that the case?

IIRC the Stoeger has dimples in the mag tube much like the 870 Express but removing the dimples will not make it impossible to take off the extension, you just need to have 3 hands on the mag spring and parts when you try to put it all back together in the factory configuration.

...But it has been a few month since I've had my hands on a Stoeger...perhaps I am overlooking something...

Yes you have to remove the dimples to get the extension to work. I am sure there is a way to put it back like you are stating but it was not worth all the extra hassle for me. If you had an extra set of hands I am sure it is easy. The good thing is I don't hunt with it so I don't have to worry about changing it back. It is primarily for zombie defense.

I have a Nordic +5 extension on my 24 inch Stoeger 2000. It works like a champ. No problems so far as long as you stay with at least a 3-dram 1-ounce load. Mine will run the 2.75-dram 1-ounce loads up to about 5 or 6 rounds, but to load to max capacity (10 rounds), I have to run the 3-dram stuff for it to cycle reliably. Also added a Nordic bolt handle, low drag follower and will add the extended bolt release as soon as I can get the button drilled and tapped. For a cheap shotgun, I am impressed with it so far. Great for a low-budget 3-gun shottie. And there is nothing to prevent you from going back to the standard mag tube. You just have to watch out for flying springs as GunCat has already stated.
