Recommendation for lightest recoiling semi-auto hunting shotgun for teenage girl?
The Niece wants to go dove hunting with us this fall.
Uncle HellifIknow has been tasked with finding an appropriate hunting shotgun for her
She is 15, maybe 90lbs., and does NOT like recoil. I let her fire a few of my 12ga's but they ate her lunch. Too heavy, etc.
I'm thinking 20ga, semi, lightweight as possible, low recoil as possible recoil.
Wood stock would be nice so it can be cut down and padded to fit her L.o.P.
Any advice on where to start looking?
The Turkish made SA-20 Bantam, from Mossberg is ok.
Weatherby imports much the same shotgun as the SA-08 Youth. It looks better too, though it costs more.

They also made it in 28 gauge. It was called the Entre Rios.
The Mossberg SA-20 Bantam has a short stock and weighs less than 6lbs overall. They're around $425.
You should be able to buy a short stock from Mossberg if you can't find the Bantam model.
Remington 1100 20ga. Special Field or Youth edition if you can find one. My kids shoot the heck out of mine. 1187 20ga youth models out there too.
Ive heard good things about the SA-20 also. My Mossberg 930 12ga eats about any ammo I put through it from full power slugs to light field loads. If the SA-20 action is anything like that, it should be really nice.
Im sure a girl would love one of these, 1187 youth 20 at Buds Guns. Adjustable LOP. Alittle pricey at $670.00

My son loved shooting my friend's 1100. This is a great option.
Benelli 20 gage with the comfort r stock
I'd like to offer up that it's not just the shotgun that will help.
Winchester offers some low noise, low recoil shells which are pretty amazing. They really are really a lot quieter, so much so that other shooters have asked if I had a squib load. Surprisingly they do still hit with authority on sporting clays.
They MAY not cycle some gas guns, but for an over under or single shot, they are a blast!
BTW, a 20 doesn't necessarily kick any less that a 12, and the mass of a 20 is generally lighter, producing a greater felt recoil.
I really recommend trying the change the load method that change the gun solution. A gas operated gun will recoil less than a intertia or fixed breech gun though.

No. The Benelli is recoil operated.
You want a gas gun.
Remington 1100 LT-20
It's perfect for your purpose.
