 sling for 590A1

I am in need of assistance on a sling setup for my 590A1. I plan on taking a couple of shotgun classes which is the main reason for the sling and in case of SHTF this is my primary long gun. It looks like a single point or two point sling is the best option for a long gun. I currently run a single point on my AR but it doesn't look to mount up quite the same on the 590. Also, it looks like a lot of people are using a sling plate so what is a good choice there?

Thanks

18.5" or 20"?

These 590A1's already weigh a bit more due to the heavy barrel.

Running a single point on one could be done, but I'm not a big fan of them.

I'm running a Viking Tactics 2-point on my 20" 590A1. Works great so far (run the same sling on my AR).

I now have a GG&G front sling plate that goes behind the mag tube cap.

I used to ran a slip style sling (Remington Brand; LOL) on my 590A1; worked great, except for the big embroidered Remington on it.

Yeah I have 590A1. It was a pain trying to find a sling that would work around my surefire forend. If I didn't buy it with that forend already on there... I would have passed on and got a clamp or something. It seems as though I'm restricted to just a single point. (Not a fan of them). A two-point shadows the light beam.

I like Larry Vicker's Blue Force Combat sling. The Vtac is nice also but I just don't care for that long adjustment tail even with the velcro retainer. Also non-padded, the padding tends to limit the length of adjustment

That's alot more noticeble on the 590A1 than my AR.

It fits pretty good though.

Here's a video with the sling. Not particulury about the sling, but you can see it how it holds. Slings well around the back too.

Can't believe I'm linking a video of me on ARFCOM, but hopefully it'll be alright since we're not in the General Discussion zoo.

(probably in a good mood because of tonights events)

I'm a big fan of Turner Saddlery All Weather Slings. Here are my 590 A1s (the 18.5 now has a Houge short stock on it also, and I've changed out the 8 rnd Mesa for a 6 rnd on the 20")

No you're not, and no it doesn't have to.

There are a bunch of options for slings and mounts.
On the front you have the option of sling plate, which can be had from SGT/Wilson, GG&G, and several others. With the 18.5" you are limited to that or the sling button that screws into the end of the mag tube cap. Those suck, so I wouldn't even consider that as a real option.
On the rear, you've got more choices. There are the receiver plates, stock adapters, 550 cord adapters, and the rear sling button. The 550 cord and stock adapters will let you side mount the sling to work with the adjustable two points.
For slings, you have the GI carry strap which actually works well on pump guns, the VTAC, the Gear Sector, OSOE bungee adjustable, Blue Force, and about 87 others.
Two points generally do better unless you have an SBS, but some people like single points on 18" shotguns too. Or even the 20" 590 and A1s.

That's easy for you to say. I have the sling adapter and same setup like you have in your first pic. Except your barrel is shorter. You don't get the sling/light interference like I get..

What kind of sling are you using? If you run one of the adjustable two points and wear it while you're shooting the sling should clear the light. That's what I used on a 20" gun with a light and I didn't have an issue with the sling blocking the light.
ETA: Some of the longer two points will work/adjust so that you can have the sling around you while you're running the pump. I've used that on both the 18.5 and 20s. By wearing the sling it stays off to the side and out of the light. I like the bungee types for that, like the OSOE and similar. They tend to be long enough to stay out of the way, and the bungee has enough give so that you can adjust the sling to keep close but still have enough flex to use the shotgun/light.

So what sling plate do most of you use when adding a sling?

I have the GG&G rear sling adapter. Goes between the stock and receiver.
