Hello all, I'm look for some open discussion of this shotgun. I have found many good comments about the quality, reliability, and value, however I am failing to see a serious discussion about testing the firearm's compatibility with other brand accessories. So far this is what I have heard...

Remington chokes fit...
Remington 870 compatible aftermarket stocks may fit with slight modification...
No bolt on ammo-saddle fits without drilling...

Ideally I would put an aftermarket tactical stock w/pistol grip & a picatinny rail forend for a flashlight.

If people can give me some guidance, I may try to run a small test here.

I am doing a review on the CD Tactical Pump with pistol grip stock, breacher choke tube and I will be posting it soon. It has just about everything but a side saddle & tube extension. I am making a 7+1 tube extension for the CD shotguns that's even with the muzzle and will offering them soon.

Here is some info on the CD Tactical Pump:

Nice GRS similar to the LPA sights.
Rail mount but it's to high for mounting a RD sight. It's basically useless, it looks cool though.
Rear side sling mount on the stock & front sling plate mount.
Very thick aluminum receiver
Fit and finish is excellent
Nice Benelli style pistol grip stock. It has 14" length of pull
Very simple shotgun to take down with very few parts. It's modeled after the 870 but it's different and no parts will interchange. The shell latches have been beefed up and are shorter.
Takes Rem chokes
Remington stocks will not fit and they can't be made to fit

I haven't found anything wrong with it yet but I haven't tested it out good. As it stands now I would rather have the CD over a basic Mossberg 500 or the 500 SPX. I still prefer the 590, 870 or the Hawk 982.

What if you already have an 870 and you want something different that's already tricked out. The CD Tactical fits the bill nicely and it offers a heck of a lot for the money..

I was at the local fun shop the other day and played with the pistol grip tactical model with out the breacher. I was looking for the breacher model but he didnt have it. No let me start by saying i already have 2 870's. I liked how the CD felt. The action was really tight, but i supect it will loosen up with use. Its size and feel was quite good. For a basic tactical shotgun on a budget i was pretty impressed. The price was great as well at 269.00. The only thing I am trying to figure out is exactly how to mount a good tactical light to it. I liked it enough that I put it on layaway and will pick it up after the first of the year and see how it does. Also does anyone know if i can by the the breacher separte and screw it into the exsisting choke threads and fire slugs

Nice info, how about an aftermarket forend with picatinny rails? I found one for the 870 that I was going to try-on but I didnt want to shell out $65 from the store to take a guess...

Why not just get an 870 since all 870 accessories will fit the 870?

The 870 forends won't work on the CD pump. They are totally different.

Because some people like myself included already have 870s and are looking for something DIFFERENT. If I was looking to have just one shotgun then yeah i could agree with you, definatley go with a good 870 but some are looking for a little diverisity.

Liberals want diversity. Screw that! Go with the 870

10 million+ made with only a few slight changes to it over the years. They are doing something right.

Ouch. Careful with that word LIBERAL. That hurts . I agree with you on the 870. But like I said I have 2 very nice 870s already. time to look for something new to add.

If you want something different get a Mossberg. With that you will have no trouble finding accessories.

The Charles Daly Tactical is loaded with accessories. What else could you want.

No need for a sidesaddle with a 7+1 Hi Cap tube extension. They add too much weight & bulk.

The PG stock on the CD Tactical is much nicer than a SF stock and it looks much nicer also.

Surefire forends are too costly and many find that there is not enough room for their hand. There are better options for mounting a flashlight, mag tube clamp with rail is a good option.

Oversize safety would be nice but the safety on the CD, the way the stock is designed, can be disengaged just like a big head safety. You can push it in with your trigger finger while on the trigger.

The New CD Tactical Pump with 7+1 tube extension even with muzzle. You need to only drill one mag tube dimple out to make it work. Features offered: Front & rear side sling mounts, very nice low profile ghost ring sights fiber optic front, rail mount, takes Rem chokes, nice Benelli style PG stock, take it down for cleaning just like an 870, lightweight shotgun with smooth action, chrome lined barrel. Will it hold up to abuse only time will tell. CD has excellent customer service. Shorter forend is available from Charles Daly. The finish on the tube extension & the shotgun match much better in person.

Are the mag extensions something that Charles Daly just started offering?

I did not see them on either CD website but with an extra two rounds the Field Tactical AW looks like an excellent truck gun candidate.

MAX100 makes custom extensions. He sells some neat stuff, like a +3 for 870 that's flush with the end of a 18.5" barrel.

I have a field tactical, it works for me (also have two 870's). Just dont baby it when racking in a round....if i dont use good force, i have ftf problems. Outside of that, its a good gun.
