Anyone have any experience with a Norinco Model 99 Coach Gun?

My father loves short barreled side by sides with hammers and I just found this Norinco Model 99 coach gun for $220 that I'm thinking about buying him for Christmas. I'm not expecting some show piece and even though I doubt he'll shoot it much I'd like it if it at least worked. At $220 it almost seems too good to be true. But I just bought a Spartan SPR310 for $330 that performs flawlessly so I was hoping this gun might be similar in the sense that it's nothing pretty but it works.

I have one. It's rough, but it works. There's a Cowboy Action gunsmith who can slick it up for you, but I have the URL on the machine that may or may not come back from the dead.

Great fun for shooting skeet, but there are better coach guns out there. Decent for the price.

Do the better coach guns out there also have hammers though. That's a must and it seems like my options are either $200 Norinco or $800 CZ and my father is the kind of guy where if he find out I spend that much on him he'll feel bad.

I think the Cimarron does. You can slick up the Norinco's action with some lapping compound, so it's not a horrible deal. I'm not disappointed that I bought mine, it's just that you get what you pay for. If you're handy, it can be a decent deal.

Remington makes one. I've handled one in my local gun store, but I have never fired one. Quality seems good though.

They do but everywhere I've been looking for one is out or is charging far too much for it. It's the same Russian made line of guns that my over under is and I'm thrilled with it.

I'm going to look into the Cimarron too while I'm at it.

I bought the Russian-made Remington while first looking at the Norinco. It's more expensive, but 10x the fit, finish, and function of the Chinese one.

Noted. I'll try harder to see if I can find one. I hope Buds Guns get's them back in stock in time.
