 Which optic for Tactical 45?

I've pretty much decided to order the tactical by the end of the weekend. Now, I'm looking into reflex sights.
I've never owned one so I'm pretty green on the subject. I found an 8 MOA Trijicon MS03 like this one here http://www.militarywarfighter.com/Trijicon_MS03_p/trijicon-ms03.htm for only $150 new.
Another consideration is the 7 MOA Doctor Sight II Plus for $240 new.
Any experience with either/opinions?
Thanks!

I don't believe anyone comes close to the Trijicons...I have the LED model...

Check the red dot sight section on warriortalk...

The place I'm looking at has the Doctor Sight 2 Plus in 3.5 MOA for $240 as well.

Is the RMR really that much better to warrant $420+ more than the Trijicon MS03?

I went with the RM05 9 MOA dot.

I've got the Trijicon dual illumination 9MOA. Don't have it mounted yet though. Just got the pistol on Monday.

I have used a burris fast fire off one of my larue ak iron dots. It works well. BUT you cannot lossen or tighten the set screws with out removing the optic due to the rised rear sight post. Which means after you get it zeroed in you have to completely remove the optic. Which blows!
One day i hope to buy a trijicon and put the burr is back. But that's rather pricey.

Note I think the doctor sight also uses the same set screw config as the burr is.

I used a friend's FNP45T with a 9.0 RMR on it. It was great, fast aiming, etc until it got wet.
Just a couple rain drops messed up the sight picture to the point where you couldn't see anything, not even irons..

After that experience I'm sticking with the sights that come with it when I get it in a month or two..

I have two FNP 45 T's and really like the pistol. A 15 round 45 ACP suppressor host is a great weapon. However, I put a RMR on one of them a couple of months back and really tried to get used to it and like it. I work part time at a range, and I shoot quite a bit. It just doesn't work for me. Along with the tall FN sights, the sight picture was just to "busy" for me. I took the RMR off, and it is now part of my two stamp 10/22 project.

Yep, I'm feeling the same way. RMR on mine too, which I feel is a very nice sight. But it's slower, far slower for me to get a sight picture through the sight than just with irons.

Now in the finest traditons of firearms, I've only shot 1 box of ammo of out mine, so maybe it will get better. But I hard a hard time picking up the dot when I pull it up.

Now once I get a sight picture, it's very easy to use with good results. The small sight window catches a lot of oil if you're like me and soak your guns down (I live next to the ocean so I have to oil them down), and the window gets spotty.

I'll use it some more, and if I don't like it I'll put it on my MP5/10.

A lens pen, like the one Nikon makes, will keep the glass clean and take the oil off. I also have begun treating mine with rainex to keep the moisture at bay.

Is it glass? If not Rainex will NOT work.

RainX works on the RMR which is glass . I checked with Trijicon at the recent NRA convention here in PBurgh a few weeks ago, and they said Rainx was fine and would not harm the glass coatings. I put on a couple coats and it seems to shed the water, much better than without it. Uncoated, I found the RMR was useless when completely wet. I too have taken the RMR off my 45TAC for now, and just run the irons. It just seems simpler without it and I can hit out to 50 yards almost as good. When you practice with the RMR, look at the target, not the dot, line up your front sight as normal and the dot should just appear right on top (assuming you sighted it in with the dot on top of the front site). It gets much faster with practice. My RMR is the 7moa dual illuminated one and the glass is a darkened blue which somewhat restricts vision. The jury is still out with me on carrying with the RMR. I think the handgun needs to be a battle proven instrument of last resort and I'm not yet convinced the RMR would be enough of an advantage to risk issues of mud, dirt, water, etc. under extreme environmental conditions of battle or hard use.

I'm more or less in the same boat, I did decide to go with the Trijicon, but cant decide on FDE or Black

Does no one try the Insight or Leupold? I like how the Leupold comes one when you move it so it seems like a good contender to me.

Be advised...some red dot sights mounted on the FN Tactical do not allow access to both reticle adjustment screws. I know the RMR series will work, but some others wont. the adjustment screw is blocked by the rear sight.

It appears neither the Leupold nor the Insight have that problem looking at pictures of them.

what size dot does everyone recommend for the FN?

Don't own a FN, but run and RMR Dual illumination on a G17. I don't notice the irons anymore and it's. Becoming second nature. I would suggest MOA dot 7-9 for a pistol, 3.5 is really small. I chose the dual over LED due to my astigmatism, but LED is visible in more lighting conditions. Trijicon is spendy, but worth it. The Leuopold didn't work for me due to astigmatism...the triangle was just to busy.

Are you shooting both eyes open? I recently did a range trip in the rain, and I was still getting effective hits at 15 yards, even with the gun dripping. I've heard of folks using rain-ex on these things though.

Does the Doctor have the adjustment screws exposed?

What are the Pros/Cons with the doctor?

They all have the adjustment screw exposed, the issue with the Docter is that the set screws for the sight adjustment are blocked by the rear sight. I've read though that the Docter still holds zero without the set screws tightened.

The Burris FastFire also has the screws blocked by the rear sight.
