Has anyone cut or ground down the diameter of an Advantage arms kit to shoot more than golden remington or mini mags? Any ideas would be great, or is it just the chamber is too tight? I just ordered a 2nd recoil spring to clip and grind on, my model is G-29 thanks
Remember that if you weaken the recoil spring too much the slide may not go fully into battery as it fights to partially compress the firing pin spring, or even worse if the spring is really weak, as you press the trigger, the trigger bar may push the slide back as it tries to fully compress the firing pin spring before release. Each scenario can cause a misfire or an easy to do out of battery discharge.
I have a weak recoil spring that at times wouldn't go into battery. If use it with my modified 13 rnd. mags I can bottom load 8-9 of Fed. economy bulk stuff and have no problems. If I use my 15 rnd mod I can load and fire even more. That's because there is less upward mag. spring pressure from the shorter plunger and the shorter plunger and follower.
If I go back to the original 10 rnd components, the Feds don't eject
