New Sig 1911 TACOPS
Sig touts the new Sig 1911 TACOPS as a gun that does not need a break in period and works right of the box.
Well, I'll damned if it didn't do exactly that. Hip hip!
I can remember helping a club member with his new Kimber 1911 (I am an RSO and get to do that stuff) He could not fire one magazine without a jam.
He called Kimber from the range and I hear him say: "OK I will do that"
I asked what they suggested and he said they told him to put 200 rounds minimum through the gun before he calls them again.
Not knocking Kimber per say because in truth a had a full frame basic Kimber that was great but their commander sized guns don't seem to function as well.
Anyway, this Sig 1911 has shot everything well and is a pleasure to shoot.
I have a couple Rock Islands one a TAC and they are flawless but do not have a rail nor are as accurate and, of course, they do not say SIG on the side and we all know that is why we use Rock Islands for defense and dare not deploy a SIG (I would hate to have to give that up to the evidence locker for the next 20 years)
Funny thing is I have Lasermax and it simply does not function as well as the cheap Chinese knock off. So I switched the Lasermax out. Go figure!
Truth is the Sig is really not that much more money than a entry level 1911.

Good to hear , I like mine!
Mine with threaded factory barrel came in last week . Its a another host for my Tirant 45.
I myself have a SIG 1911 that I bought a few months ago. It's been great so far.
Can all SIG 1911s use standard aftermarket parts, e.g. Wilson, Baer, Brown, etc?

I just read something on this subject the other day. It has a Series 80 safety I believe and obviously the extractor is different, but other than that I believe everything else is the same. I would like to replace the ambi safety on mine with one that was a little wider. I'm a lefty so I need that ambidextrous safety, but it would certainly help to be a bit wider.
I took mine out of the factory box and threw a little slide glide it it and fired 200 rounds as fast as I could empty the magazines and reload them. I shoot SVI pistols in competition and I can attest that this is one well made pistol. Cheaper that a Kimber but better quality in my opinion.
Lookin for threaded barrel, any recommendation for an aftermarket threaded barrel for tacops compact?
buy a 5" barrel and have it cut and threaded.

How about ordering one from Sig. They have them listed for $235.00.
My Scorpion has worked like a champ since day one. Has fed every type of ammo without a hiccup. No "break-in" for this baby! I am impressed, especially since this is a VERY tight gun.
Shot a guy's Sig 1911 today at the range. Very tight pistol and good looking as well.
Love that TacOps. That may well be my next purchase.
I just got a Sig 1911 Carry Scorpion and it shoots incredibly well. Now I'm wondering how well I could shoot with a full-size version.
I gotta say...having been in the gun business, but not necessarily a 1911 guy, I was almost surprised to hear all the fanfare over Sig's rendition of the 1911. I figured everyone would snub Sig for putting their touch on the slide/extractor. I've always been a huge Sig fan (although not without a few complaints), so I figured if they can manage to make a 1911 that people on the internet like, then I may as well make a Sig my first 1911. I was preparing myself to drop $1,500-2,000, but I'm glad I didn't.
Well, I still may drop $2,000, but I'll have two Sig 1911's.

Just bought a new TACOPS last night. I'm really excited to get it out to the range. I definitely couldn't find another 1911 that seemed better put together for the price.
Here is my Tac Ops I bought last week . After 100 of WWB the last 6 shoots of my target at 20-22yards shooting at a indoor range with the suppressor attached . And I 'm not a very good shoot with 1911s. I'm hooked.
Sorry for the bad Cell phone pics . DLSR is with the wife .

LV, did you change your trigger?
As usual, they don't make exactly what I want.
I like the TACOPS Traditional (more holster options available) but I want the threaded barrel. So of course Sig doesn't catalog that combination. I guess I could buy the traditional and then pony up for the threaded barrel, but I'd rather have it come from the factory the way I want it.

No 100 %stock. Took it out of the box. Recleaned and lubed it. Changed the piston on the TiRant to the short 1911 size. Attached supressor and had fun.
Interesting.. All of the Tacops I've seen (mine included) have a solid trigger. I like the skelotonized trigger better. Sweet rig.

I like the skeletonized trigger better too, but mine came with the solid trigger.

Same here. The one's I've seen on SIG's website have solid triggers with the SIG-style slide and a skeletonized trigger for the traditional models. But the pictures above clearly disprove that theory...
I just got a tacops TB and it came with the skeletonized trigger. Manufacture date was last month, so I think that's what Sig is starting to put in them instead of the solid trigger.

Yeah, probably so. I bought my Tac Ops in October of last year, and judging by the dust on the box it had been there a while. I may switch out the trigger eventually.

Please elaborate! I just bought a 1911 TACOPS TB 5" on Gunbroker. I would like to change out the trigger and maybe the hammer (going for an all-black look).
