new Kimber Gold Match II - not in love
This weekend, I picked up a Kimber Gold Match II. I was excited as I wanted one for a long time. Took it out to my acreage and it ate everything - no flaws. Brass case, steel case, ball, JHP. Ran like a champ.
I expected the 5" barrel to be a more pleasant shooting experience than my 4.5" barreled Dan Wesson CBOB. It wasn't. Shooting the same ammo out of both guns, the recoil was noticably stronger with the Kimber.
I want to enjoy this pistol, but it feels more like my 3.5" New Agent than the CBOB. Not exactly what I expected.
I'm open to suggestions. Can I smooth things out with different springs?
Yeah you can play with the springs, I have a Gold Match II that I played with and its more pleasant to shoot than before by far. I reduced the spring pressure and loaded light loads up until I got them to cycle right. Its almost like cheating at the USPSA matches (which I highly recommend you get into btw), those Gold Match pistols are great performers. I won my first match, most of it was the gun.
