New tritium sights for my Range Officer

I'm wanting to ditch the big gaudy target sights and I purchased this as more a carry gun than range gun and I've been told there isn't much of a selection for the cuts on this. I'm not too familiar with the sizes and such of the different sight cuts and I'm wondering if this could be machine out to accept some of the new Trijicon HD night sights or some Novaks? That's about the only issue I have on this. Gotta get some VZ slimlines and a 10-8 trigger and I should be content.

Rear sight is what's called the "LPA Cut". Harrison Sight's have some rear's that will fit without doing any customizing.

Harrison Custom

I am putting one of their sights on my Range Officer, and using a Dawson Precision front night sight. The part you will need is 020-040. The .180 height, from what I have read, will give you POI = POA.

Dawson Precision

I'm sure there are other options out there, but these are the sights I am going to be installing on my R.O.

Here is a little review on the set-up I am using.

I will look into those. I really want those trijicon HD sights though. I like the big U notch rear.

You could always purchase a bald slide and have it fit. them the world is your paint brush when it comes to sights.

cost effective off the shelf sights for a LPA cut that are fixed is about 3 options, in rear sights.

Say if I want Novaks, would they be able to recut the slide for their own sights, cost aside? Or would the BoMar type have to be filled in.

edit: scratch that, called Novak and they said it would have to be filled in and would probably kill the heat treat. this sucks

Remember the RO is not marketed as a carry gun.
You can sell it for a loaded model, those are more set up for carry.
You can pick up a slide with all the cuts you want minus the finish for about 250 (Caspian) then have novak park and install the sights.

BoMar cut is not what the RO has it has a LPA cut. There is a difference.

Well I don't want a loaded model because I despise the front cocking serrations although I do like the beavertail and such. If I can just get satisfied on a sight setup and get my trigger/grips, then it will be an ideal carry gun for me. But shame on springfield for using such worthless sight cuts

I don't understand why you are mad at Springfield because you purchased an entry level match gun and found out it's not suitable for carry.

For what SA is selling the gun for, the sights are perfect. The shame is on you for not finding out before your purchase on what can be done to the gun.

I'm not *actually* mad at Springfield. Although more common style sight cut would seem to make more sense. I basically want something close to a TRP minus front cocking serrations which I found at a price that would allow my few minor mods and save $400. I'll just have to settle abit I guess on my sights but for the money spent I guess I'll survive.

OP, I put the Harrison rear Trijicon sights, and the Dawson front Trijicon sight on my RO. It's a really nice carry gun now.
