I am trying my hand at updating my Rock Island 1911 by adding a new beavertail grip safety. I already have the .250 radius tool / jig. With the fairly decent selection from Brownell's, Midway, Fusion, etc.. I am wondering if anyone can give some recommendations to which one to get. Also, do you need the dedicated wilson combat frame jig for the wilson combat safeties or wil the standard jig I have work just the same?

Thanks in advance.
I only ever used the Ed Brown High ride, which works with that tool.
I've not installed, but have used the Smith and Alexander, with palmswell. It suits my hand nicely.
The Chip McCormick, Ed Brown, Les Baer, and S&A grip safeties will work with the .250 radius. The Baer and S&A will require less blending, generally.
If you want to use a Wilson grip safety, you will need to cut the compound radius necessary if you want a gap-free installation. Using their jig is the easiest way to do that.
