Makarov refinish project ? Lets see'em please
I bought a CZ82 not long ago, and after taking it to the range the first time it has quickly become one of my favorite handguns. I seem to recall photos of makarovs that have been refinished and maybe had the grips replaced with walnut grips. Anyone want to share their before/after photos?
I just put some down on a Circle 10 Bulgy. It is all original. I plan to go with custom wood grips and a dura coat refinish. Will post progress here.
I've been planning to dura coat my bulgy for a while. I'll try to do a photo sequence. Still trying to decide whether to go all black,
or add some color to some of the small parts and controls.
Got everything torn down and masked including the ejector, but of course now I'm thinking I better remove the trigger guard too. Have to try to push that pin out on my lunch break. My goal is to blast the parts after work, and spray the dura coat tonight in the garage. I think i've decided to go matte black on everything but the slide release, hammer, and ejector, where I'll try to blend in some tiger stripe green for some contrast.
Blasted and sprayed yesterday. Didn't take any pics of blasted parts, but will take some pics of the finished parts tonight. I will follow up
with pics after assembly. I decided all black was looking pretty sexy and stayed with that.
Sounds good, lets see it...
Here it is reassembled, with some black walnut grips I made.
I think it turned out pretty nice, I'll probably give it more time to cure before I bring it to the range.

Lookin good.
This was refinished in Duracoat "Combat Gay" with black rubber Pearce Grips

Looks great. I just had a Kahr CW9 DuraCoated. I am going to do the same with the Mak.
Got the Mak and it actually looks better than I remember. I am gong to keep it original for a while. I would like to find one cheap that does need refinishing and get it DuraCoated.
