My safety on my 2 Maks is very stiff, I have carried it in the "FIRE" position, is that considered safe? I was always under the impression with de-cocker DAs that you de-cock, put back on "FIRE" and reholster. Is that correct? The trigger pull seems plenty long/heavy.

Of course the trigger pull will be long and heavy with DA. That is kind of the point.
It's usually not necessary to have the safety on when the hammer is down on a double action.
If I carried a Mak, that is how I would carry it. Hammer down and a round up the spout.
I carry a Glock, what do you think...

What does the safety actually do on this gun? Does it just stop the trigger from moving?

I don't know exactly, but it drops the hammer when you put it ON, so no cocked & locked carry here.

That scared the shit out of me when I first did it. Of course it was pointed in a safe direction.
The safety does keep the trigger from moving but also blocks the hammer from striking the firing pin.
I've carried my Mak, which is my favorite CCW, for a long time with the safety off. I use a left-hand small of the back holster. Works great.
I have carried mine with the safety off ever since my first Mak "flew apart" while decocking. A gunsmith I talked to told me to NEVER even use the decocker.?
