Luger FTF & Stovepipes
I have a Mauser made Navy Luger type pistol that my father bought new years ago and never fired. I recently took it out to shoot and had so many malfunctions I consider the pistol inoperative.
1. The toggle is very tight. I assume this is due to never being used, but maybe it is supposed to be this way.
2. The magazine springs are also super tight. If I load more than two or three rounds, they seem to ride the bottom of the "bolt" very tightly when charging the pistol.
3. It frequently fails to feed and sometimes stovepipes spent casings.
My GUESS is that the magazines I have are probably the issue, but who knows. They are marked Mauser and came with the pistol. Are there any Luger wizards on board who know about this type of pistol and common malfunctions?
