Please forgive my ignorance and what will surely be insufficient information, but I know next to nothing about Luger pistols. A friend of mine called me today asking what a 1942 Luger would be worth. He said it was in pristine condition. I told him I had no idea but that I'd try to find out. I can't offer any more than this since I've never actually laid eyes on the piece. I'm sure there are lots of variables involved, but assuming it's a pretty-much run of the mill piece, which is likely because it was a war trophy that has been in the family a long time, what would be an estimate of it's value? Any help would be much appreciated!

Here, tell them all the markings on it and take lots of pics, put it in the New Collectors forum.....

So it's a byf 42? Does it have the black plastic grips and mag bottoms? And are they in good shape? A minty "Black Widow" should bring in the $2,000 + range. I would need to see good pictures to tell for sure. Make sure that he does not fire this gun especially if it is all matching numbers.
A WW2 bring-back will
normally bring in the neighborhood of $1500-2000. This is excepting some models as they discuss above.

Thanks guys, and I'll try to get more info. I should get the opportunity to look at it in person this weekend.
