What appears to be a rebuilt Broomhandle has come to my attention.

Looks to be one that was rebuilt in Ohio a while back, but I can't be sure. It is reblued, and the owner says it's an "arsenal rebuild".

All the numbers I can see on it match. The flat on top of the barrel in front of the ejection/loading port has the full Mauser address type logo, not the Banner. On the left side, just below the upper flat is the Crown over U proof mark.
The Banner appears on the left machined area on the frame, and the right side has the full type logo with address.

The left side of the barrel is stamped "9mm Parabellum" in an olde Germanic typeface, and looks like it was part of the rebuild process to me, but I'm not sure. It has a new looking set of wood grip panels, but they are NOT the "Red 9" type.

The rifling appears very strong.

It appears to be unfired since being rebuilt.

It also has 5 strippers that come with it.

Any thoughts on what it may be worth?

I've always wanted one in 9mm for easy ammo sourcing, and I almost pounced on it tonight, but I thought I should ask around first, and do some homework.

I think Mitchell rebuilt and relined the barrels for 9mm. I have one with a repro stock, I paid $500 for it over 20 years ago. I have no clue what they are worth now though?

He will take $450.

No idea if that is a good price.

If it functions properly and looks good that is a good price for a shooter.

Did some more investigating today.

This is a FedOrd refurbished Model 1930.

I'm guessing it will be a safe shooter because of this.

Could I asked what sources you used for your information? I'm drawing blanks on research for mine so far.

I joined the forum at 1896Mauser.com, they have a pretty good FAQ, section.

It's kind a wonky to join as it's a web ring type of thing and not a real forum, but lots of info there.

I'll also add that there are some really helpful folks there.

I've gotten several emails with tips on disassembly, and more importantly, what to look for from a safety standpoint.

Seems like a good bunch of people.

I think that was a good deal. Beautiful piece.

Fed Ord and Oyster Bay Industries imported a bunch of broomhandles that were from China. Most had shot out bores and light pitting across the entire pistol. They were blasted clean and then re blued and most got new barrels, though a few were re lined by Fed Ord. The grips should have been cghanged to the "red 9" to indicate 9mm.

For $450 it was a very good deal as most re builds sell in the $600 range.
