Last weekend I decided it was time to give my Russian Capture P38 from S.O.G. a workout in an IDPA match. I normally shoot a 2nd generation Glock 21. Hardshell repro holster and a pocketfull of mags and the P38 was ready to rock. My times were slower but it was the first time I finished with zero points down. I used 115gr fmj reloads and had no misfeeds or malfunctions. The holster was hard to draw from and the mag changes were a challenge, but it was lots of fun. The first round double action felt like a 30# pull. The guys at the match enjoyed looking at a piece of history with the Nazi markings and the rough exterior finish.

Did that with my P-1 a few years ago. Not my best match, nor my worst.

I think my worst score was with my Springfield Black Stainless 1911. Still needs a trigger job 3 years later. If I can find some mags, I might shoot the CZ82 next month. Eventually I will shoot my CZ52, but has to be a match I don't have to bug out for work so I can clean it. Damn corrosive ammo anyway.
