Ok, so I'm in the ether and looking for a way to get into this competitive game.

Good friend is also relatively new to the game and today he gave me this. Said, "Take it and shoot it. I have several handguns, and I'm buying another match gun soon".

Apart from the obvious (and without knowing the particulars of his mod's and he said there are several), what do I have here?
(I don't know the round count or the year model. Serial number begins with HN 3***)

ASSUMING the price is right and it runs well, would this be a good "beginner" gun? And what class(es) would it apply to?

(new Galco paddle hoster and includes an extra mag or two)

You have a .45 acp Limited Model. These first came out 10-12 years ago (give or take) as a match ready gun with a double stack magazine. This gun was to be a factory made version of something you might send to a gun smith at the time. They added a beavertail safety, adj sights, oversize safety lever, full length guide rod, and other "semi custom" modifications.

I have a P-16 .40 Signature model. It's the same is yours, but the signature model is one of the first 1000 of the series. Mine has been an excellent gun with no serious problems other than recoil spring and mag spring replacements as needed. It think I've replaced each one once. I probably have 20k thru mine with no broken parts or problems. I'd lave to have both a full size 45 and a commander model.

In USPSA shooting it would be in limited class. As far as IDPA, I don't have a clue.

Any other questions let me know.

Al right so I can't read.

I love mine. Your next step up would probably be an STI or SV.
