P14, what is the "real" name for this funny blue color it's finished in?

I recently received a P14 and never noticed how odd the slide and frame were colored until I took it out in the sunlight. It has a dark blue (but dull) color rather than flat black look.

Is that normal for these pistols? The think really looks odd compared to my other .45's.

Thanks for any info.

If a coated finish, then it's Duracaot in black, which will have a slightly Blue tint to it against something true black like dark Bluing.

Thanks. It does look darker until you get out in the sunlight. Then you can see the difference in color between the mainspring housing and sights (black) vs. the slide and frame (dull, dark blue).

I read on 1911.org that PO has a color that is called midnight blue. From what was posted there , I guess it looks black under normal indoor lighting, and under bright conditions, it looks blue.
