For the love of God, someone talk me outta this!!!
Folks, I was sitting on the throne this am,

reading latest American Handgunner, and read about long slide Para Super Hawg. Now I want one, BAD!! Please, everyone dog-pile on here and tell me again what a piece of crap all Para's are and how much I'll regret owning one, how problematic they are, how crappy their customer service is, et cetera... Hurry, I MEAN IT!!!!

Man, no-shit! (uh-oh...) I guess I'm sorta like Charlie Brown with Para playing the part of Lucy.........
I have four of them.
3 P14s. Two run OK the other- meh.
One P16. Absolute POS.
Customer service- hit or miss.
I'm having the same series of thoughts myself, STILL, there is a good chance one may follow me home soon. I like the concept and I'm likely to personalize it if I do get one. I'll let you all know how it works out if I do.

Well, I'm wondering what the % of guns to come outta Para is that are "crap" vs. the ones that folks just buy and go off and shoot and are happy with? You DO hear a lotta complaints about them, but are they just a vocal minority?
I don't know about quality, but their CS is crap. I ordered a special edition over two years ago, got charged for it and some accessories a month-and-a-half ago, and I don't have a single item in my possession. Efvery time I hear from them is a month or more after the last "you'll have it by this date". The last word was it will be shipped in November, which for Para means anytime in 2011. I know a dozen or more guys that got a .40 cal from them that won't feed for jack, and Para has been less than helpful in getting it fixed. I would run away from it, and spend the money before you are tempted to go back!

The only Para I own at this point is the 14.45 LDA. I purchased it shortly after it was introduced and it saw hard use as a duty side arm for approx. 7 years. For me, it is the firearm I shoot the best. The pointability and accuracy make me look like a WAY better shooter than I am and I recently had Robar refinish and tweek it for me. Now, that being said, I have yet to pick up a new Para in recent memory that didn't have a poor trigger out of the box. YMMV. Still, I don't think it'll deter me from getting the Super Hawg soon.

Actually, I went ahead and ordered one today, I guess it'll be a crapshoot, but if it actually works, it'll be a hell of a nice gun, me thinks! Good, bad or ugly, I'll keep you all posted, including pics....
3 x P14s, 1 x P13, 1 x frame kit with commander top end, all run 100%. There is a Super Hawg in my future too. I'll probably change the slide to have a traditional extractor though and I always wanted a Caspian Damascus slide anyway.

Well, I FINALLY got to the range to shoot this thing, and it did OK, I think it's a keeper. It DID have a failure to feed issue about once per mag, midway through, but that doesn't seem like anything that more shooting and a feed ramp polish won't cure. I wanted to ensure it would run before I tackled the 7.5 pound trigger, which won't be an issue to bring down to 4, I'm sure. I like it, soft shooting, nice sights and lots of fat ass bullets
Pics to follow after Navidrex rosewood grips are fitted....
I have a P-14 and an SSP that both work great. I'm even thinking about getting an LDA.

OK, trigger job - DONE (came in at 4.5 Lbs, clean & crisp), Navidrex grips? eh, not so much, would have required a lot of fitting just to be able to operate the safety and truthfully, it made the grip feel FAT, definately not the direction you want to go on this gun...
Anyone know of a Para grip (wood, aluminum or micarta, all fine) that is truly "ready to bolt on" and as thin as factory? Otherwise, these stay on, they are ugly, but they work just fine. Overall, I'm glad no one talked me OUT of trying this one
Hope all had a Merry christmas!

Well nice.
I got an SF-45 that I really like.
