cobray m-11 9mm
are they any good?
I have never shot one, yet I want one someday. I actually went to the local gunstore once to order one, but they had a good deal on something else I couldnt live without and bought that with the money instead. They certainly are cheap enough, so if you dont like it you wont lose much.
Fun, very fun.
The one my friend has is a jam o matic, have not shot any others to compare reliability.
I did a bit of gunsmithing on one my FIL owns. Seems pretty cheaply made, but fun to shoot. They are a tough resell though. I see them pop up every now and then in the EE and it seems like the get zero interest.
I bought a new preban(threaded barrel) in '94 for $330 just after the AWB went through. Mine worked fine I never had function problems with 99% of the ammo being reloads. I only put about 2k rounds through it in the 8-9 years I owned it.
Shooting it was a bit awkward, it seemed to recoil odd because of the grip being so far forward and low compared to the bore, it would be better as a carbine which they made kits for. The sights were worthless and the charging knob was too small and difficult to operate. The firing pin was a flat piece of sheet metal that got peened flat(where the hammer hit) with normal use to the point it wouldn't set off the primer. I fabricated a new one from a cut off blade made from high speed steel.
The novelty wore off very fast, within a couple hundred rounds I realized it was worthless and not very fun to shoot. Most of the ammo put through it was done by my friends who wanted to try it out.
I finally sold it in '02 or '03 for about $400 the selling point was the 6- 32rnd mags that went with it which were about $40 a piece at the time.
I would never recommend anyone buy one.
I got one during the ban for $100 bucks with a barrel extension and some standard capacity (30 or 32 round?) mags.
It was a hoot, but a guy wanted to trade me a WASR +$200 cash for it so out the door it went.
It was a bump firing blast though, miss it at times.

Damn, some people get all the good deals
Sounds like you did well with it though.
Sold my M11 a couple months ago.
Guy wanted it so bad he gave me $500 for it with 3 33 round mags.
I never shot it anymore and was glad to get rid of it.
I impulse bought one a few years ago, it was fun to mess around with but was impractical. I never had any problems with it, but was told by a few people that they were junk. I had a pre ban one with the threaded barrel and a fake can. I'm not a big fan of fake cans but the weight of it made the gun easier to control and gave me something else to hang on to. Accuracy was actually decent if you took your time, but since the sights were a POS I usually just sprayed and prayed with it. I paid around $460(too much) for it in '03-'04 and it came with the fake can, and 3 or 4 32rd mags. I ended up selling it in '09 for about 4100 less than I paid for it, but was glad to get rid of it.
Save up $3000+/- and get the real thing
Or how about a 9mm Glock with a extended 33 round magazine?
Easy to bumpfire, fun range toy.
OP, bought a M-11 in 380 caliber made by RPB with Cobray stampings on it about a month ago. It was being sold as part of an estate sale at my local range. It came with the barrel extension and was in really good shape. For $100 I said what the hell, why not, it would be a fun conversation piece. I'm also surprised to see it's an open bolt version, something I've never owned or seen on a pistol before. I get it home and go online
Here. I was shocked to see what this little guy was going for in good condition as I never run across deals like that. I have not taken it to the range or shot it yet. From what I've researched, they are quite reliable with good magazines. Good magazines are the key. I've only found 1 magazine for it so I'll report back when I've actually taken it to the range.
I shot the 45 acp version, in full auto. Total waste of ammo, beyond 25 feet. Could not put 20% of a mag into a standard IPSC target at 25 yds.
very happy to sell mine.crude, and never ran a full mag without jamming. used the money igot for it to buy a colt 6450. love this rifle.
I've always wanted one just for the novelty of it.

I 'like' mine quite a bit, but when I've needed a few bucks to get me by, I've almost sold it a few times.
I'm glad I hung onto it, and now have no plans on selling it.
I bought it NIB seems like 2 decades ago, maybe less, would have to find receipt. It's an SWD version, preban, I have the original 15 round mag that came with it, along with several factory 32 round mags. Also have the fake and overly large 2 stage looking suppressor, a vented shroud, a 'cuts' type compensator, etc.
It has a nicer finish than most I've seen, and contrary to what I've heard and read, my stamped out sights are right on to POA to POI. The large fake suppressor is really heavy and makes recoil pretty light. I have only fired it a few hundred rounds, but never had a malf of any kind, and it's more accurate than I would have believed. That's probably why I just haven't been able to part with it. It's definitely a 'novelty' type gun, but looks badass, holds 32 rounds, is reliable and accurate. I guess I like it more than I think..
Just one of those ' I don't need it, but can't seem to get rid of it' type guns...
