I'm looking for replacement recoil springs for the FM Detective 4" models. IIRC the 1K rd mark was the recommended replacement time frame (like 1911s). I know mine has close to that through it, and I'd like to get it changed out before something starts peening. I remember a few threads here over the years, and Archive search revealed little.

I recall one of the guys from Argentina had contact information for someone who worked for/with FM, and might be able to source factory springs, but I can't seem to find the info now. There were some folks that had luck with Cz75 springs if memory serves, but I'd like to get some (captive / double spring) factory replacements if possible.

Hi, I just today noticed the answer to your question. FM Detective Hi Power Recoil Springs: Fortunately, Wolff CZ-75c 18-pound recoil springs work well.

Wolff CZ-75 Springs are the same kind as used by EAA Witness firearms. If you look here (http://gunsprings.com/SemiAuto/CZNF.html#CZ7588), it directs you to the EAA section of the website. You want the EAA Compact (http://gunsprings.com/SemiAuto/EAANF.html#RecoilCompact) springs at 18 pounds, or part number 43318, "CZ, TZ, P9 and all other Compact models." Wolff's website is pretty confusing when it comes to these springs.
I am planning to buy a Detective. FM High Power guns are well done. Rr

While the Wolf spring would likely work but typically seem to be very long, you may find a better answer by contacting a couple of the better known Hi-Power custom gun smiths. Sure they would steer you into the correct or better path. If I was going to buy a Wolf spring I'd likely first look at the FN/Browning stock replacements. So no luck contacting FM in Argentina?
